Hi Elda,
It shouldn't cause Outlook to overall run slow, but when adding emails to SalesForce, you may notice a delay while it connects through the API if you are running Connect for Outlook.
If it is crashing your Outlook, you may want to re-install or make sure you have the latest version. I know we have experienced that as well with the older Connect for Outlook, but have not had that issue with Salesforce for Outlook.
