When I customize my tabs it does not save

My current default display (custom app) is 'Salesforce Chatter' when I log on.  I want to change it to 'Sales' and when I go to 'Customize My Tabs' and click on 'Sales' and hit save, it does not change my display.  It keeps defaulting to 'Salesforce Chatter'.  How can I change this?

    On that page, you are just customizing the tabs on each App, not your default App.   

     

    You can talk to your Salesforce Administrator to change your default Tab, or you can use a browser bookmark/shortcut for the tab you want.
