How do you adjust lead assignment rules to accomodate vacation absence?

IT's that time of year again and I was wondering if there were any nifty solutions to deal with folks who are away on vacation? Do you just keep editting the Lead Assignment Rule?

    Exactly.  Even with a small team, you might want to cut yourself some Admin slack by creating 3 fields on the User record:  

     

    Out of Office Start Date

     

    Out of Office End Date

     

    and a formula checkbox called "is Out of Office" with a formula:

    AND(
    Out_of_Office_Start_Date__c <= TODAY(),
    Out_of_Office_End_Date__c >= TODAY()
    )

     

    That way, you can update those Date fields whenever you get notice of a users upcoming time away. The checkbox will auto-adjust based on the current day.

     

    Then, use that formula checkbox in your ARules.
