How do I copy a text field from the Opportunity Page (we use a rolling summary of the opportunity) into the Activity Page?

We keep a text field on our opportunity page that is updated when changes happen with the prospect.  I want to copy and use the same field in the activity layout so the opp can be updated at the same time, and it will show the rep the current status while they enter activities.

    That is not possible using off the shelf settings, Formulas, Workflows, etc, for that you'll need custom Apex Code.  Otherwise you might want to look into the (free) Agent Console or (paid) Sales Console Tab => https://help.salesforce.com/HTViewHelpDoc?id=console_about.htm&language=en_US (https://help.salesforce.com/HTViewHelpDoc?id=console_about.htm&language=en_US)  

     

    Or (possibly) the Process Builder
