Can't choose Lead Owner for email template test?

We created an email template that will be sent to a lead on behalf of one of our sales reps. The merge fields are related to the lead and the lead owner.

 

I see I can choose 'Lead' for the Recipient Record, but how can I choose the Lead Owner as well for this test?

    I am attaching a screen of what it looks like in my Outlook since I have my settings to not display HTML content until I approve. I think you have some hidden ninja code hanging out and messing with you. I would delete the entire line, rebuild it and then see if you still get the error.
