We use the Partners related list on our accounts.  I needed to change some of the values in the "Role" pick list on the Account Partner.  I switched to Classic (Customize -> Accounts -> Partner Roles) to do this maintenance since it didn't appear to be available in Lightning.  I added my new value to the pick list and all was well in Classic.  I could pull up my account and add a partner and see the new value.  Once I switched back over to Lightning, the new value I just added to the pick list isn't visible when I try to add partners to my account. 

 

Any ideas why they aren't visible?

 

How are you supposed to maintain that pick list?

    An old post, but I can confirm that it is enough to update the values in Classic (Customize -> Accounts -> Partner Roles). It just takes an eternity to get updated in Lightning (1h in my case).
