I need to create a lead assignment rule based on a certain picklist value. I have 9 total users that are going to be assigned leads. 7 of them have an easy assignment where x picklist value mean x user gets the assignment. However, I have 2 picklist values where they want it to be assigned to every other user. So X picklist value would get assigned to Y user, then the next lead for the X picklist value would get assigned to Z user and then Y, Z etc. I think a round-robin lead assignment rule won't work because its only a set number of leads that are going to be every other. It is NOT every other for every lead. (https://help.salesforce.com/HTViewSolution?id=000004000&language=en_US)

They want this to be automated. Would assigning lead ques work for this? I know that they could pick which leads they want but I'm trying to automate the process.

Are there any possible work-arounds? I was thinking I could assign the lead based on the first/last name where A-L go to Y and M-Z go to Z. It isn't a straight every other but it should be close.
