has anyone had issues with public group members not showing in the groupmembers table?

I use the members of public groups in apex to determine if they should be able to do certain things ie delete attachments after routing has begun.  With the Sp15 preview this seems to no longer work.  If I look at the groupmember table these members of public groups no longer show.  If I add the group to a queue then they show back up.  Am I the only person using public groups this way and has anyone else seen this behavior?

    So now I am back to my original statement: Users in public groups are not showing in the Group Member table. They are direct members of the group, so they should at least show as members but the only ones they show as members for are if they are in a queue or permissions set. Weird. The api version shouldn't matter if I am looking at the table directly through eclipse. Right??
