What is the data retention within Salesforce and for which objects?

I am working on providing documentation regarding how long does the data contained within Salesforce remain active. I have seen a few articles where it shows how to backup data however what I am looking for is how long will it remain in the application if I were never to delete it. Thanks!

Hi Sandy,

Salesforce doesn't automatically delete data, but it does archive Activities to improve reporting performance.
