Do I need separate products in my product table to represent different versions of the same product?

I have a single product that has several versions.  I initially thought I could add a custom field to the Product table and then record a single product entry.  Once I chose the single product, I thought I could choose from the Version picklist.  However, I also want to link Products to Contracts and I can only link to a product and not to a Product and a version.  Does this mean that I need unique entries in my Product table for each version of a Product?

    I believe you are correct - each different version will need to have it's own entry in the product table.
