how to update picklist values in task

I've added picklist values available for the Status field in my Task page?  However, when I go to create or edit a task and change the status, the new values are not available.  Why is this?

    I have no record types

     

    And i can change the Status Values from Tasks but if i create a one i cannot select the new fields only the standard ones
