We have Professional Edition, and I was recently requested to change the creation of Accounts by salespeople to require approval. I realize that approval processes are not offered in Professional Edition, but I am hoping that maybe someone is using a workaround for this.

Ideally, salespeople would enter all account information and submit to be reviewed by admin or manager. Admin or manager would approve or deny new account. Any ideas for Professional Edition? Unfortunately, upgrading to Enterprise is not an option.

Any help is appreciated. :)

Let's do this!!!! Now that PE has a limited number of Process Builders, you can sort of hack it.

You will need Submit for Approval checkbox, an approval status field (Submitted, Approved, Rejected), and a validation rule to lock the important fields if the approval status is "Pending."

Your process can send email alerts to let approvers know they have to do something, update the status field, check/uncheck the validation rule box, and send another email alert to the record owner when the record is approved/rejected.

You can get ~80% of the way there with a PB on accounts where each node handles each piece of the pie.
