I know I have permission based capabilities but not sure how to prevent my volunteer/special events coordinators from seeing donations/grants? I want them to be able to see all other information and track all of the volunteer and special events funds that come in. I am uncertain on how to proceed and do not want to mess up tracking funds. Thank you for help/instructions.
Sounds like a perfect example of field level security. You can make the field level security on their profiles and remove these fields from their purview. This also prevents them from seeing these fields in reports.
