Lead Source Values

Is there a way to simply "hide" the default "Lead Source Picklist" values instead of replacing them or deleting?  I created a new record type and page layout and added "Lead Source" and now it contains my new values and the default values.  I must be missing something.

    If you go back into setup and go to the record type that you just created, you should see all the picklist fields available for editing.  If you select the Lead Source field and click edit, you should be able to move the ones you do not wish to see off the list for this layout.
