Are you referring to the Offline Connect with the briefcase? If so, that is an old and mostly deprecated part of the platform. I know they are working on some updated offline support but not sure when we may hear something (safe harbor). For now though users can still use older browsers with offline connect but as you already know Salesforce is no longer supporting.
