How do I allocate a new custom field to all accounts?

I have created a new customer account field as a picklist for Yes or No. Can I change all the accounts we currently have on salesforce to Yes and then if any need changing to No do this manually. Or do I need to change each one individually?

you can use data loader to update all accounts with new field.
