I have a custom object that is a Person, and the Client requirement is to have a First Name field and a Last Name field. I originally had the object set up as an Auto #. But when this record is related to another object, the auto number shows up in the lookup field (obviously). Is there a way to concatenate the first name and last name, and make that concatenation the record 'name', have that show up in the lookup field, and have this also be a hyperlink to the record? Therby eliminating the auto number?

Hi Steve,
So can I use the Record Name field as the First Name? Yes, it doesn't really matter what you put there, it will update using the workflow once saved.
And then concatenate First and Last via the workflow? Yes
And would the workflowed name be a link to the record? Yes, this will automatically happen since whats in that field ends up as a link.
