Is it possible to delete related objects from the losing contact when merging duplicate contacts? We have a custom object that is related to contacts that we don't want to merge because it creates duplicates. Is it possible to delete these records before the contacts are merged?

How about a trigger based on the object being re-assigned. These records are typically never re-assigned (they should really never be) so could I just delete any records based on a change in contact?
