how do I merge two companies with different names

How do I merge two comapnies with different names.Do I change the name to the first one and then merge

    Yes, you need to rename one of the Accounts so the account name is a close enough match for the Merge Account Search to find them.  I would call the The Merge Accounts UI a piece of crap, but that would be unfair because crap can be used as fertilizer, so it is more useful than the Account Merge UI.
