We have 2 sales reps for example. I need them to each have their own leads. We have a scrape list that I upload but I need to assign it to one rep and not have the other one steal them (west coast and east coast leads).
How do I do this? We have several different views that the leads go through depending on their status. For example 1st call attempt, 2nd call attempt, 3rd, archived: non-responsive, but we do not want the reps to see the other reps leads in these views.
I haven't been able to find the video or instructions needed for this although it appears very basic.
Let me know if I need to clarify anymore. Basically looking for sales best practices to make things fare for sales reps.
Thanks.

You can go to Setup > Security Controls > Sharing Settings, then set your Leads to Private. That will make sure that people only see the ones that they are the Owner of.
On that same area, you can set up sharing rules to extend the visibility if you wanted / need to.
You'll also want to set up a Role Hierarchy, so that people on the same level can't see each other's records, but people above that level in the hierarchy (i.e. a manager) can see those records owned by both people.
