I searched and could not find an answer to this question and my struggles have lead me to believe we can't.

 

So here is the situation:

 

We use a marketing software that only works with Leads and Contacts. When a lead is converted however, there is a contact, but no lead anymore. Our sales team works off of the opportunity. So when an opportunity stage = Archived, we'd like it to update the contact(s) underneath with a field change so that a report can be taken of all contacts that are archived. That way our marketing software can use that as a contact list. 

 

Unfortunately, the marketing software does not work with opportunities.
