Our users use Salesforce for Outlook, most of them with the Add Emails button (or Send And Add button if composing an email) rather than the side panel.

This morning most are reporting that the button is missing, and instead they are seeing the side panel - the button has gone away. And they are not happy!

For one user the panel display is not rendered correctly (parts aren't displayed or are partially displayed).

We are slated to go to Winter '19 in 3 days, but users who use Salesforce For Outlook every day shouldn't see any changes.

Can someone help shed light on what has happened?

Thanks for the suggestion Avi. I checked the update history on one of the user's computer and no update has been run since September.

However, I have found the cause. I had created a new profile and assigned everyone in our largest sales team to it. We only have one Outlook Configuration, and the new profile wasn't enabled for that configuration, so these users' Salesforce For Outlook used the default settings, which displays the side panel. Once I added that new profile to the Outlook configuration the side panel disappeared and the Add Emails button returned to everyone's Outlook.
