I am using the following stage names in the picklist stage name field;

00 - NON SITCOM Opportunity

1 - Prospect Opportunity

2 - Capture (Pre Gate 1 - Go)

3 - Offer Construction (Gate 1 - Bid)

4 - Offer Submitted (Gate 2 - Bid Apprv)

5- Short Listed

6 - Awarded

7 - Signed (Gate 3 - Contract Approval)

8 - Closed Cancelled

8 - Closed Lost

8 - Closed No Bid

8 - Closed No Go

8 - Closed No Submission

8 - Closed Error

9 - Closed Won

0 - RR Opportunity

I want to create a new formula field that checks the stage fields. If the stage equals;

8 - Closed Cancelled

8 - Closed No Bid

8 - Closed No Go

8 - Closed No Submission

Then the new field returns the value '8 - Closed Lost'. If the stage equals any of the other stages above then it returns the same stage value.

    Another option would be to have only "8 - Closed Lost" as one of your stages and a dependent picklist called "Lost Type" that would become required if "8 - Closed Lost" were selected.  The "Lost Type" values would be:

    Cancelled

    No Bid

    No Go

    No Submission

    This way, when reporting on opportunities by stage, you only have one value for Lost opps, but if you want to do further analysis of your Lost Opps, you can do it with the "Lost Type" field.
