Hi - I was wondering if the following are possible:

Force everyone to be part of a group?  Also, what is the best way to put everyone in a group without checking off every name.

Force everyone to get an email upon every post to a group?

I know the users can set themselves up for these, but I want to force these 2 things.

Finally, is there any way to link up chatter groups?  We will be creating 5 chatter groups for 5 separate company initiatives...

Thanks!!

    Hey Fred,

I'll answer your question in two parts...

    1) Depending on the volume of users you are trying to add we can use Dataloader.io to mass add users to a chatter group. This is probably the easiest way without having to manually check each individual user.

    To do this:

First we need to run a list of all of the users (including their user id) that we want to add into the chatter group. Export the .csv file and save it on your desktop. Open this file and what we need to do is take the Id of the group that you are trying to assign them to. To find this, go into your group and pull the id from the URL. Should look something like this: 0F930000000L5Tk

Then we take that value and paste it into a new column in the .csv report. Add the header 'CollaborationGroupId' as the name. So we should now have a total of 2 columns. One containing the User Id the other containing the CollaborationGroupId.

    Next we go to:

From there, login and then click the 'New Task'

    -Click Insert

    -Sellect the ChatterGroupMember object

    -Upload the CSV

-Now we need to match UserId to MemberId and match CollaborationGroupId to CollaborationGroupId

-Run the task and you should be good to go!

You can repeat this process as many times as needed (so 5 times for your groups if necessary)

    2) To set up emails when posts have been made, you will need to instruct your users to change their chatter email settings

Setup > Personal Setup > My Chatter Email Settings

Once there they can scroll down and change the frequency of when they receive updates!

    Best of luck!
