Hi All,
Apologies in advance if this has been asked already. We have the Gmail integration and Inbox licenses. I'm running into the issue where duplicate contacts and accounts get created, which others in the SF community have struggled with. Has anyone found a workaround for the Contact Sync issue? Users don't want to lose the Inbox features EAC offers but it is an absolute nightmare for admins. I'm wondering if there is a way to keep the features but stop contacts from syncing from Gmail to SF.
Thanks in advance!
Hi Ronilsy! I believe I finally understood why duplicates are allowed to be created, because it is a question of who sees what. I mean, you may own a contact but because the ORG OWD parameters, I cannot see it, so that is why Salesforce allows duplicates, so we can have the same contact (each one of us), and see it, despite being different records.
Regarding your question, I work with Person Accounts and while setting two ways sync, I got the duplicates because of this thing of contact ownership, despite our OWD is public read... so I end up doing just a one way sync, from SF to Google, even though this means that I lose the INBOX features and I can only create and edit the contacts from Salesforce, not from the Google agenda, which are both OK for me.
On the other side, I guess that if your ORG´s OWD is public, and you always set the same owner for every contact, you would not have duplicates, together with Duplicate Rules. This is just something I am thinking, still testing about.
And by the way remember that ONLY the contacts tagged with "Salesforce Sync" in Google, sync with Salesforce.
Let me know if this helps, or you managed to find another workaround!
