Can you enable Path on the Account object within the mobile app? Or is this feature only available for the path on Opportunities?

It's not currently planned for the next couple releases so at minimum 1 year away. If you're going do custom dev i'd recommend using the Path Base Component. I have a blog post with more info on it: https://developer.salesforce.com/blogs/2018/06/using-path-in-your-custom-lightning-component.html It should save you some dev time since you'll can use pieces of what we've already built.
