I'm getting weird reports on drip campaigns and wonder if anyone can help clarify.
On the drip campaigns overview report, all of our 17 programs have stats where more people completed the program than started it, like this:
PROSPECTS STARTED DRIP 4,509
PROSPECTS COMPLETED DRIP 13,120
**EMAILS SENT 137,879
COMPLETED PERCENTAGE 307.81%
When I drill down to the individual drip program report, the numbers make more sense: we start with 4,509 prospects and after 11 emails there are 2,179 who completed. This report shows total emails sent 31,232 (which makes sense for the 11 emails to 4K prospects). So how does this correlate to the 137K in the overview report?
Are my reports broken or is there some interpretation I'm just not getting?
It's hard to diagnose without seeing it. You are using Drip (the older program)? Not Engagement Studio? (They have different styles of reports, and your description sounds like the older Drip style.)
I definitely encourage you to transition to Engagement Studio. You will like it, I promise.
The old-style Drip reporting is kind of difficult. It is mixing up numbers because a bunch of your recipients have been sent to the recycle bin.
So you probably really did send many thousands of emails - but you also sent many thousands of prospects to the recycle bin, so those in the recycle bin are not being counted correctly in your report.
I think it makes more sense if you look at the Email Templates report.
Go under Reporting > Marketing Assets > Email > Email Templates.
Filter to see the email templates in your programs (filter by name key words, or tags).
Also make sure you are looking at 'all time' stats, not just a month ago.
You may find that the email templates presented here have the higher 'total sent' numbers you are looking for.
But when you click into the actual email template, and click the 'total sent' number you finally see the list of actual prospects - and it is REALLY low. That's because the remainder of the list is in the recycle bin.
