Any updates on the "Printable view" in lightning experience?. Is it going to be available in the near future or atleast in the roadmap? I see a previous post about opening a "formatted excel" for reports. However, I am looking for the "printable view" link on the record detail page. Moreover, I don't know how good the excel solution will be as the format might be different depending on the office production that we are using. We still have couple of documents generated in word format. It works fine with word 2010, but not with word 2016.
@Balaji Pooruli Neelakantan Thanks for the additional detail - most of the discussion I have seen thus far on printable view has been in the context of reports. The concept of Printable View on record pages will need to be handled much differently in Lightning than in Classic, because there is so much more to work with on the page in Lightning than just the page layout. This becomes even more true with features like conditional display and accordion components, so not everything is visible at once, some information may be collapsed or hidden when you don't need it. If you are looking to print out just what's on the page layout (aka "record detail") I suspect that is not going to become available until the page layout designer is replaced with a Lightning native tool (right now the classic page layout editor still controls that detail tab in Lightning).
In the mean time, I would either use a screen shot tool or browser printing, explore a third party solution on the Appexchange, or build a Visualforce page that arranges the information the way you would want it in a printout, as the layout may be quite different than the what displays on the screen.
