Solution to Lightning Component Error: Component Report Chart has an invalid value for property 'Report'

I came across this error just recently when adding a new Report Chart lightning component to the layout of a standard object page. I wanted to share this with the community as I couldn't find much out there about this specific error and hope this can help others.

All the visible report charts on the page had reports assigned which were not saved in my personal reports folder and had charts enabled for each. Everything seemed in order yet this error message wouldn't let me save the layout.

Turns out there was an additional report chart component that was basically hidden on the page and was causing the error as it had defaulted to no report being assigned to it for the mandatory 'Report' field.

The only fix I could find suggested to go through and delete all lightning components on the page and add them back in again one at a time. Seemed tedious however it was by doing this that I found there was was an additional report chart field that was basically invisible (as no chart graphic was being loaded).

So if you experience this error, look carefully over the page for where the dotted outline of existing components seems to have a white gap between components or is just a bit longer than expected. Hover over this space and if a component is actually there a thin blue line highlighting a box will appear enabling you to move or delete the component. Click on it to reveal its details on the panel on the right.

You can then fix it up or delete it so that you can now save the page successfully.

Hope this helps!

Hi @Craig Newns-Smith - could you provide me more details on how you were able to add a report chart component without a report assigned to it? In the App Builder, by default the 1st report in the dropdown should be default selected for the required Report field in a new report chart component.
