Would this be the group I would post a question to if I had a question about creating a Custom Theme for Salesforce Communities?

@Chris Gary Unfortunately we do not have a token or aura:attribute defined that represent the Logo and/or Background images. In *safe harbor* we are planning to add a token for the Logo image with the Winter '18 release. The background image is fairly specific to the current Napili (Customer Service) template so currently that is on our "maybe" list.
