We're trying to expose case comments to our members in the most efficient way possible. In the case comments Lightning component, if a member clicks "View All," there are four columns presented: USER, PUBLIC, CREATED DATE and COMMENT. I'll let my community user tell the rest:
"Strangely, all four have equal width in the default design. Seriously? User NAME and the checkbox under PUBLIC gets just as much column width as the dense layers of information in the COMMENT section. Seriously?
I'm really restraining myself here, to not be rude, just feeling frustrated at seeing the same narrow little columns used over and over. Frankly this design seems more like an Obstacle than an assistance. This could be done a lot better. Just set the default column widths to 10%, 10%, 10% and 70%.
Yes, I do see where I can manually drag the width of each column, and it isn't saved or remembered. Don't force the customers to drag things around every single time they want to read case notes."
My question: Is there any way we can set the default column widths?
@David Green thank you for responding. The italicized text is feedback from my customer. For the time being, we've reverted to a solution that utilizes the majority of screen width. As I told the customer, we'll continue to improve the community customer experience, just like the Community Cloud team does. I appreciate what you all do in support of customers and our community users.
