I have a very easy/basic question as a new Pardot user. I imported a list of webinar attendees successfully and we are working through the list. I created a campaign and assigned the attendees to the webinar campaign list. While I was out, one of the attendees contacted sales for follow-up. Sales created a contact within Salesforce, and the connector properly added the contact record in Salesforce and I can see her also in Pardot (two different contacts, one enabled with the sales cloud icon and the other a pardot user unassigned).
Is there a way to merge the contact within Pardot so I only have one contact and assigned her to my webinar campaign? What is the best practice for this? I would think it would be best to just have one instance of the contact, and as she continues to progress within salesforce, I can see her Pardot activities along with Sales activities?
Thanks
Tom
@Tom Berdan if you have an "orphaned" record that exists only in Pardot? (like in that screenshot that previously I sent you - with no Salesforce cloud next to the name?) Then go ahead and do the merging in Pardot.
But, if the records are BOTH in Salesforce? One Lead and one Contact? Then you want to first convert the Lead to a Contact (at the same Account) and then merge it into the existing Contact.
If the records are both in Salesforce already, then because the email addresses on both records are identical, Pardot will follow Salesforce's lead and copy the conversion/merge.
