My client would like to change the CNAME / URL of the tracker domain. This should be easy to set up in principle but I'm wondering what happens to links in already sent E-Mails which might be clicked after changing the name?!

    Hello, @Greta Ney

! Mike from Pardot support here!

You are correct that the changing of a CNAME is a pretty easy endeavor. It will essentially just be following the same steps as setting up a new one.

As for the tracked links in already sent emails, their behavior will depend on the DNS setup on your client's end. So long as they keep the current CNAME settings in their DNS, they can add the new one and both will continue to work. While Pardot will not be creating any new URLs with that CNAME, the DNS settings will still be able to properly redirect visitors to the right place.

For more information, I recommend checking out this Knowledge Base article on setting up the CNAME:

    Hope this helps!
