, we are deploying Salesforce for Outlook. In going through our business processes our IT dept has given me feedback regarding our VDI platform.
**From our internal IT:
We were working on installing the new version(SF for Outlook 2.5.1) into VDI for any sales folks using that (and as we migrate VDI out to sales teams later) and you may need to confirm w/ the SalesForce folks – this version (as well as the previous version) requires outlook to run in cached mode which we can’t do in VDI (or it would have to rebuild a 1 GB cache ever time its started delaying outlook performance and initial access to email).
So this won’t be an option for the sales team on VDI unless they have a solution that works w/o cached mode.
We’re running VDI on a Citrix Xen Desktop system ontop of PVS in a non-presistent user state.**
Do any of you have any feedback? Are there other groups I can go to that could be of assistance?
Thanks!
Thanks for mentioning me @1543965856 .
Hello
@Marc Festervand,
Thanks for posting your question.
At this time, Salesforce for Outlook still does not support virtual desktops (please refer to SFO's system requirements). We are not actively going after virtual desktops' certifications.
I would not advise customers to deploy a production solution in an unsupported environment.
You may look at partner solutions that officially support those configurations such as LinkPoint360, among others.
