#Tableau Next7 discutindo

My team has been testing out some Tableau Next features in an SDO and has been looking at the out of the box Individual Engagement Dashboard. We're having issues with null campaign and asset names, and because we're locked out of editing the dashboard, its component and the semantic model that it's built on, it's incredibly hard to troubleshoot the problem. The dashboard looks like this:Issues with Individual Engagement Dashboard

The Campaign DMO is populated and the Bulk Message Union logical view has Campaign IDs in it which map to the Campaign DMO, so they appear connected properly. I have no idea what the asset name is even meant to reference.

Can anyone please give any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this or why there would be nulls here if you've experienced this issue before? It would be enormously helpful.

@James Jeeves That dashboard and its semantic model are managed in the SDO, so you won't be able to open them and fix the join. A populated Campaign DMO doesn't mean the viz is reading that name.

The nulls show up when the engagement row's key doesn't match the record the model uses for the name. Asset name here is the marketing content, the email or message, not a file. Check that those rows point at a campaign and an asset that actually have names. If you need a different join, build your own semantic model and dashboard. The packaged one stays locked.

Good morning - you are asking about several separate different Tableau funamental functions - I recommend you see the series I wrote for New to Tableau users https://jimdehner.com/bgs-beyond-getting-started-the-path-to-understanding-tableau/   - it is a 13 part (yoiu can pick and choose among the topics)  it is also on Youtube - see the playlist https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBKGe-fkLXxt5gycYDP_F-Y7MHj0GczJp  and then attend the Tableau Newbie User Group - https://usergroups.tableau.com/tableau-newbies-user-group/  - our theme this year was the "Road to Certification" you can pick up any misses session from the recording link at that site and sign up for our next meeting on October 6th

1, Containers cannot be placed inside another container, as nested containers are not supported.

 2, The

floating layout option was not available

, preventing placement of one sheet over another.

I’ve run into similar layout limitations where having more control over how different elements are positioned would make the design much easier. Nested containers would definitely be useful for organizing complex layouts, while a floating option could help when you need to layer or position elements more freely.

I’ve been working on the online presence of a local handyman business too, and I’ve noticed that having a clean, well-organized layout makes a big difference in how users interact with a site. This is one example I’ve been working with: https://www.thehandybrosco.com/

Hopefully, these layout options get added in a future update, especially for dashboards that need more flexible positioning.

Hi, I've built a data kit and moved from sandbox into production. It worked the first time and then the second time, even though the check says that it's successful, it doesn't update. Does anyone have any ideas on where I'm going wrong?

Thanks

    Hi @Fiona Crocker,

This is expected behavior in Salesforce Data Cloud.

Data Kits don’t reliably overwrite existing components, so redeployments may show "success" but not apply changes.

    Try:

    • Deleting or versioning the existing component
    • Deploying with a new name
    • Ensuring all dependencies are included

They work best for initial deploys, not updates 👍

If you find this helpful feel free to mark it as Best Answer !!!! 😊

    Thanks and Regards.

Hi Folks,

Beyond the hackathon, does anyone have ideas where we can see other designs for Tableau Next?

Cheers

We're building combo charts (bars plus a reference/cumulative line) and running into an issue: the line label does not inherit the underlying field's default format, so it displays full precision (e.g. 6,211,694.79)  - we can format bar labels (e.g. 8.6M). Same chart, two very different-looking numbers for related figures.

We've tested overriding the calculated field's format directly, but that doesnt work.

Has anyone come across a setting we're missing, or is this a genuine gap in Tableau Next right now

I have raised as an idea in the meanwhile, so would appreciate an upvote

https://ideas.salesforce.com/s/idea/a0BHp000017JmKVMA0/independent-number-formatting-for-reference-line-labels-in-tableau-next-charts

Has anyone found a way to format a reference line label in Tableau Next?

Hi, you may create a double axis chart (synchronized axis) and use the Range option to simulate a reference line:

Range Option basically is used to create like a gannt chart, where you can set the size of the bar (In this example I used AVG(-1000), however I recommend some kind of calculated field. Why? If the value is small the bar/line will not be rendered, if it is really big, it will look like a bar, not like a line)

Thus, this is a workaround!! The right solution is to create the idea like you have done.

If this post resolves the question, would you be so kind to "Accept this Answer"?. This will help other users find the same answer/resolution and help community keep track of answered questions. Thank you.
