I'm hoping someone has seen this or can tell me if it's a known issue. 

The problem: Every dashboard I publish to Tableau Public shows an empty/blank thumbnail on my profile. The vizzes themselves open and render perfectly — it's only the thumbnail preview that's blank. This affects a workbook I published several months ago as well as brand-new ones. 

What I've confirmed it is NOT: 

- Not a browser/ad-blocker issue: thumbnails are blank in Chrome, Edge, on my phone, and in incognito. 

- Not empty data: the extract contains real data and the dashboards render fully when opened. 

- Not the background: I changed worksheet/dashboard backgrounds from transparent to a solid color, no change. 

- dashboard is a fixed size (1613x1000). 

The key finding: Single-worksheet vizzes get a correct thumbnail every time. Only Dashboards come out blank. And when I build a dashboard directly in the browser using web authoring, that dashboard gets a proper thumbnail. It's specifically dashboards authored in Tableau Desktop Public Edition (build 2026.2.1) and published that fail to generate a thumbnail. Simply opening the published workbook with Edit and re-saving doesn't help — the dashboard has to actually be rebuilt in the browser. 

My questions: 

1. Is this a known issue with the Tableau Public thumbnail service and dashboards published from the 2026.2.1 Desktop build? 

2. Is there any fix that doesn't require rebuilding every dashboard (and possibly every worksheet) in web authoring?

I'm trying to build a chart in Tableau that combines a side-by-side bar chart with a line chart.

Currently, my view shows Sales as side-by-side bars:

• Current Year Sales
• Previous Year Sales

I would like to add a line that represents the Year-over-Year (YoY) % difference for each month, calculated as:

(Current Year Sales - Previous Year Sales) / Previous Year Sales

For example:

• January: Compare January CY vs January PY and plot the YoY %
• February: Compare February CY vs February PY and plot the YoY %
• ...and so on for each month.

My goal is to build this as a Dual Axis chart, where:

• The bars represent Current Year and Previous Year Sales.
• The line represents the monthly YoY % difference.

However, I'm running into an issue when calculating the YoY %. The values displayed in the line chart don't seem to be correct, and I suspect it's related to the level of detail or the table calculation, but I haven't been able to figure it out.

Has anyone built a similar visualization before? Is there a recommended approach for calculating the monthly YoY % correctly in a dual-axis side-by-side bar chart? Any guidance or example workbook would be greatly appreciated.

I am experiencing a technical issue with Tableau Public that I have not been able to resolve.

I was working on a project with several completed dashboards. At some point, the Data Source tab became completely greyed out, which prevented me from modifying the data source, creating new joins, or adding calculations.

However, the dashboards themselves were still accessible and editable, so I continued working using the data already present in the visualizations.

The problem occurred when saving the project:

• an Internal Error appears when activating the extract
• I cannot export the project as a .twbx file
• I cannot reconnect to the data source
• after closing Tableau and reopening the file, the dashboards disappear and the project cannot be accessed

Important details:

• the data files were never moved or renamed
• they still open normally outside Tableau
• the dashboards were working before the error occurred

What I have already tried:

• reloading the data files
• removing and reconnecting the data source
• restarting Tableau
• several other attempts, but the Data Source tab remains greyed out

Has anyone encountered this issue before or knows what could cause it?

Requirement: Display data dynamically based on the selected Period Type parameter

• Day
  • When the user selects Day in the Period Type parameter, the Order Date parameter should display all available dates.
  • The most recent available date should be selected by default.
• Week
  • When the user selects Week, the Order Date parameter should display only the Monday date of each available week (e.g., 27-Jul-2026, 20-Jul-2026, 13-Jul-2026).
  • Upon selecting a week, the report should display data for the entire Monday-to-Sunday period corresponding to that week.
• Month
  • When the user selects Month, the Order Date parameter should display all available months.
  • The latest available month (e.g., Jul-2026) should be selected by default.
• Quarter
  • When the user selects Quarter, the Order Date parameter should display all available quarters.
  • The latest available quarter (e.g., 2026-Q3) should be selected by default.
• Custom Dates
  • When the user selects Custom Dates, the following parameters should be displayed: 
    • Start Date
    • End Date
  • Report data should be filtered based on the chosen date range.
• Lifetime
  • When the user selects Lifetime, all available data should be displayed without applying any date filters.

Display data based on the user's parameter selection: 

• Day: When the user selects Period type Parameters Day, Order Data Set  paramters need display all available dates. By default, the latest date should be selected.
• Week: When the user selects Period type Parameters Week, display only the Order Data Set  paramters Monday date of each week (e.g., 27-Jul-2026, 20-Jul-2026, 13-Jul-2026). When a week is selected, display data for all days within that Monday–Sunday period.
• Month: When the user selects Period type Parameters Month, display all available months. By default, theOrder Data Set  paramters latest month should be selected (e.g., Jul-2026).
• Quarter: When the user selects  Period type Parameters Quarter, display all available quarters. By default, the latest quarter should be selected (e.g., 2026-Q3).
• Custom Dates:  When the user select Period type Parameters Display two parameters:
  • Start Date
  • End Date
• The data should be filtered based on the selected date range.
• Lifetime: When the user selects Lifetime, display all available data without any date restrictions.

I'm new to Tableau Public. After publishing my viz, the preview thumbnail shows some text fields as blank, but when I open the visualization, everything appears correctly. Has anyone experienced this issue or knows how to fix the thumbnail? Screenshots attached. 

Hi everyone,

I'm using Tableau Public and recently updated to the latest version. Since the update, I'm seeing XML validation errors when opening some workbooks downloaded from Tableau Public.

The error includes messages such as:

• attribute 'extension-version'
• attribute 'id'
• no declaration found for element 'worksheet-extension'

This was not happening before the update.

A few details:

• The issue occurs while opening workbooks downloaded from Tableau Public.
• I recently updated Tableau Public and the problem started afterward.
• I am not intentionally using any extensions in my own workbook.
• Some workbooks open, while others produce these XML/extension-related errors.

Has anyone else experienced this after a recent Tableau Public update?

I'm trying to determine:

1. Whether this is a known bug in the latest Tableau Public release.
2. Whether the issue is related to dashboard/worksheet extensions.
3. If there is a workaround other than reinstalling or downgrading Tableau Public.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
