Hi everyone,

We are experiencing an intermittent issue when generating reports in Salesforce.

Sometimes, when a user tries to run/generate a report, Salesforce displays the following error message:

Has anyone experienced a similar issue recently?

Intermittent “It looks like there was a problem” Message When Generating Reports

    The screenshot of the message didn't come through in your post, but "It looks like there was a problem" is Lightning's generic, unhandled-error message, so the text itself doesn't tell you the root cause. Because it is intermittent, the fastest route is to capture the underlying error the next time it happens and narrow down which layer is failing.

    1. Capture the real error. When the message appears, expand the "Show details"/"More details" link if present and copy the text and error ID. Also open the browser developer console (F12 > Console/Network) before reproducing; the failing request usually shows the real exception (for example a timeout, a limit, or an Apex/Flow error).

    2. Check whether it is a platform issue. Look at

    trust.salesforce.com

    for your instance at the time of the failures and search the Known Issues site for your feature (Reports, Service Reports, Document Builder). Intermittent errors that affect several users at the same time often line up with a performance incident or a known issue.

    3. If it's a standard Salesforce report: very large or complex reports (many rows, cross filters, many groupings, formulas, long date ranges) can hit the report run-time limit or fail intermittently under load. Try adding filters to reduce the data, running it in another browser/incognito with extensions disabled, and running it as another user with the same profile.

    4. If "generating reports" means Field Service service reports or generated documents (your tags mention Generate Document): check the template for large images, many related list sections or rich-text fields, and whether the failure is tied to specific work orders/service appointments with lots of related records, line items or attachments. Also check any Flow or Apex that runs when the report/document is created (Setup > Paused and Failed Flow Interviews, Apex exception emails, debug logs for an affected user). Testing the same record with a simpler template quickly shows whether the template is the cause.

    5. If you can reproduce it with the error ID, open a case with Salesforce Support and include the error ID, timestamp, user, instance and record Id. Support can look up the error ID in their logs.

    Assumption: without the screenshot, error details or confirmation of whether these are standard reports or Field Service service reports/documents, this is general troubleshooting guidance rather than a confirmed root cause. If you can share the full error text and which feature you use, the community can narrow it down.

Yesterday, we hosted @Apsona for Salesforce's Partner Hours - our regular offer to any of the 250+ #Consulting Partners creating solutions for clients using any of the eight current Apsona "tools" in our #Salesforce_Data management tool box.

This is a great space to deepen or broaden the knowledge of how to empower users.

In one scenario - a partner was using a #Apsona Document Merge template with large PNG / JPEG image files in the Doc template.  Our general recommendations are to reduce the size of an individual MS Word Doc template to 250Kb or less - adjusting the size of image files so the overall word doc is smaller.  This facilitates any large document merges you may be producing and printing (or emailing) - in the 5000 - 10,000 record range.

In a second scenario - a customer wanted to move from Nintex and had prior used the #Listview Feature to manage the list of Donations to process and generate receipts from (for varied templates).  Since the partner wanted to provide a similar step by step process - we walked through the ability to create a custom tab for any object in Salesforce - and show the Apsona Tabular View (and extensive filtering options) to bulk mail merge those records as needed.

More detail here:   https://apsona.com/pages/sfdc/doc/vf-pages.html#apsona-tabular-views-as-toplevel-pages

Most partners don't know the ability to create VF Pages wherever needed (on LEX pages, VF tabs, community pages) to produce Tabular Views and Complex analytics for your users to consume.

 This will allow the partner to produce a tab that can produce a similar "List View" experience - without some of the limitations with standard Salesforce Listviews

    @Rachel Natik We record the calls - but with the disclaimer that they are only used for internal Apsona team development.  For example - yesterday on Apsona Hours we were reviewing a strange bug and were able to replicate it several times for a customer and then passed this to our Developer Team.    Beyond that - my best recommendation for continued #Apsona Partner Enablement is to toss your ideas in to the top of the queue for requested topics.   I have a current idea "Top Ten Things I wish Partners Knew About Apsona" to highlight solution design with the eight Apsona products - looking to kick that off next but am always open to any requests from the group!

 The Standard Object "Contract" has a field "FileName_c".

I want to set the file name(Contract.FileName_c) to be saved in "Save as" when a PDF is created.

I found some solution from this site and salesforce.stackexchange.com. But I cannot resolve.

What code enter to my Vis

#PDF #PDFs #Visualforce Pages #Generate Document #Dynamic #Sales Cloudualforce Page and Apex Class? My codes are below.

///Visualforce Page///

<apex:page renderAs="pdf" applyhtmltag="false" showheader="false" standardController="Contract" extensions="ContractController">

/ my main code is here /

<head>

<style>

///Apex Class///

 public class ContractController{       // my main code is here //

    private final Contract contract;     public Contract tokuyaku {get;set;}     public String tokParts{get;set;}     public String tokTime{get;set;}     public String Remarks{get;set;}     public String season{get;set;}     public String tokuSp{get;set;}          public ContractController(ApexPages.StandardController stdController){         this.contract = (contract)stdController.getRecord();

Hello all,

My very first request for help here.

Scenario:

Every product I have in CPQ has a related pdf specification document.

The sales rep wants to be able to see the list of these specification documents every time he wants to generate a document (by clicking the Generate Document button). Basically, in the Additional Documents he wants to see at least the specification documents related to the products added to the quote.

So in the end the quotation will contain all the selected documents selected from the Additional Documents section.

Any idea?

Thank you,

J

    Of course, now that I posted the question, I think I just nailed it.

    In the Quote Templates Related Lists there is the Additional Documents list.

    Adding there the documents needed answers my question.

    However, do I have any limitation on the number of documents I can add in this section?

    And any easy way to add some 60 documents at once or at least in an easy way?

Hi everyone,

In Lightning, after clicking Save on the Generate Document page, we're taken to the newly created Quote Document. Is it possible to change this behavior so that after the Quote Document is created, the user is taken back to the quote? Or, better yet, the quote record is refreshed so that the new PDF now appears in the Files related list?

Since the GenerateDocument Visualforce page and its controllers are part of the CPQ package and can't be changed, I tried creating a Lightning Component that takes the template and document name as input and calls SBQQ.QuoteDocumentController.generateDocument to create the doc. This is working, and it doesn't open the Quote Document record but instead just stays on the quote, which is what we want. My issue is there's no Preview functionality with this method, so I'm thinking I'm probably better off sticking with the GenerateDocument VF page.

Anyway, I just wanted to see if there's a setting or some configuration that I'm missing here.

Thanks!
