Hello!
We are excited to start using Salesforce Channels, but we would be missing the Chatter group functionality when using Salesforce Channels. I wonder if there is somehow a way to replicate this functionality in Slack, or achieve something similar?
What we like about Chatter groups
- You can reach out to a group
- Each member can customize their notifications
- There are only a couple of members who need to do a pass of the mentions/requests/concerns that come in, and respond. They pull in others from the group if needed. They are notified of every post.
- Other members just need to be able to check in and act as back-up when the others are out. They tend to set their notifications to daily or weekly digests. Or, only go to the chatter page to check in
- You can go to the group's chatter page to view all mentions and see all responses (progress) to the original mentions
- This gives us a way to check on updates, see if there are action items, if there are mentions that still need to be followed up on, or haven't been replied to.
- This is something anyone can go into, and isn't tied to just a single user or users individually
I would love it if users could mention the group within Salesforce Channels, which would then send the notification nudge to the group and send that over to a Slack Channel. In a dream world, any thread responses would update in the Slack Channel, similar to the Group Chatter page.
I've tried Slack user groups. Notifications work, but all responses in Slack happen in the individual record's Slack/Salesforce channels. You would have to do a search for the group name to pull up mentions.
Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on how we might be able to achieve something similar?
Thanks in advance,
Jackie
I posted about this consideration on the Slack Community Workspace here and I have already gotten a great response (thank you Kevin Rosario [https://krosario.com/
]). I've seconded the idea he submitted on the Slack Community Workspace.
From Kevin,
"While it’s not 100%, you can create a custom view in the Activity tab to only see messages where User Groups have been mentioned
- Go to Activity on the left-hand side of Slack (under Home)
- Click the to add a new view
- Click Create a custom view
- Select @user-group and name it whatever you want, then save (or add more filters if needed)
The main drawback is that you cannot filter by User Group, which I will add as feedback in #feedback, meaning if you’re in 10 User Groups then all those messages will appear there"
