Hi! 

I am responsible for my company's training and adoption. All of my content I build is outside of salesforce, in guides and in LMS courses.  As we prepare to double our user base and transition to Education Cloud in the coming years, I’m exploring ways to elevate and evolve our training approach to better support scalability and long-term success. 

1. Do you use the myTrailhead subdomain for your users? 

2. Do you use the Learning Home and assign content that you custom make - not trails? 

3. What are your general best practices?

    I could be mistaken but myTrailhead is goign away and may not be purchasable. 

     

    So answering question 3 is the best I can do :) 

     

    Training, for Salesforce, is a 3 pillar program. 

     

    1. Training Guides 

    I always suggest video guides categortized by work function and broken into single processes (ideally less than 60 seconds per video, voiced over, showing the real process) 

     

    Screenshot documents are ok, but I find harder to create and harder to follow. 

     

    The video format is the best way to enforce adherence to process. 

     

    2. Support 

    You need to have a method for all users, new and existing, to request support and suggest improvements directly in the system. 

     

    Then you need to actually act on their requests. 

     

    This is the best way to gain their buy-in and to make them feel supported. 

     

    3. Process over Tools 

    The last thing is to have clear processes mapped out, and to always work to ensure Salesforce facilitates those processes as easily as possible. 

     

    When this is the case, creating the training materials is simple, and the requests from the user base become less sporatic and eventually start to point to the next areas that require improvement from a process facilitation perspective 

     

    In Summary 

    The general best practices that I encourage all of our clients to focus on is an ongoing enhancement and continuous improvement process that relies on the userbase and empowers the userbase!

Wrong app warning

Every so often one of our staff needs to visit an App other than our main "go to" app (like, when creating a mass email using our Campaign Monitor app).

 

Then they forget they switched apps, and later on, visit a tab common to both apps (like Contact), but on the wrong app.

 

They see lightning record page layouts that are incorrect because I haven't bothered to make the correct lightning record page assignments for record types on those apps, only on our "go to" app.

 

What are folks best practice here?  I would like to somehow guide my users back to our main "go to" app but don't know the best way to notify them they're on the "wrong" app.  Or, should I remove tabs common to multiple apps?  Or assign lightning record pages by record type to all apps anyone ever uses (which would allow users to remain in the "wrong" app without ever realizing it)?

 

Or just train users to pay attention to what app they are in (easier said than done - I have had users hit this multiple times over months even after pointing out they are in the wrong app - it's even happened to me as sysadmin :)

    Interesting question. Any app guidance is a surprisingly strong and free solution from Salesforce now that it’s very simple to declare popup guidance.

    For example, you might define guidance to appear and highlight the app switcher with a prompt like “not seeing what you want on this record page?“ You can make it so that the guidance only appears on certain record pages in certain apps. It appears randomly a few times, but it might help train people to think about it.

    If there are certain people who shouldn’t work on certain record pages in certain apps, you definitely can create a conditional display, rich text element to warn them that they are not on the expected app page.

ISO ideas for a Salesforce e-newsletter

Looking to start a new e-newsletter for our users to highlight Salesforce updates/ enhancements and release updates. I'm probably going to add some Salesforce tips and tricks as well. Does anyone have any ideas for additional Salesforce-related content we could include? Are your admins/analysts pulling anything together like this for your users?

Recommendations for in-depth salesforce training of a philanthropy team in Albuquerque?
Any nonprofits out there have recommendations for a person/company that can do an in-person (and customized!) Salesforce training for my org's Philanthropy team in Albuquerque? We're most interested in help on best practices, use of reports, use of campaigns and portfolios, system capabilities around major gift strategy and tracking, and system capabilities around tracking of grant deliverables. Thank you!

Adoption Goals

Hi All,

What adoption goals have you outlined for your organization? Number of monthly users? Number of opportunities being managed? Our sales operations team has a pulse on our user engagement, but want to set more formal adoption KPIs to track against. How have you done this at your organization?  #User Adoption

Do you need a quick way to make step-by-step documentation? I've recently used https://scribehow.com/home for this and have been impressed at how quickly the free version lets you put something together.

 

It acts like a screen recording tool but instead of generating a recording, it creates a step-by-step visual doc of what and where you clicked. You can then edit text related to each step, delete steps, etc. You can share it directly via the app, create a “page” that links to multiple documentation pages, or export it to formats supported by Gdocs, etc.  @Training and User Adoption

Does anyone have a recommendation on an LMS App for user training in Salesforce?

Does anyone have a recommendation on an LMS App for user training in Salesforce? 

The biggest issue I'm having is being able to track and report on in-house produced content.

Learning Path is perfect for our needs except you can't track/report activity on custom url's. It's unfortunate that this critical piece of functionality is missing from Learning.

1-2-1 contacts/relationships training

Can anyone recommend Salesforce training providers to help with 1-2-1 individual sessions for senior management? The training would specifically relate to contact/account creation and management, and building + visualizing affiliations and relationships. #Nonprofit Cloud
