Reports & Dashboards

This is a public group. Ask questions, share posts and collaborate about reports & dashboards!

Hi,  I need to create a specific report that should show:  The number of logins to the system in the last 30 days by users belonging to public groups, grouped by public groups.    For example:  User_1 is member of Group_1 and has logged in 10 times, User_2 is member of Group_1 and Group_2 and has logged in 5 times. In the report, I'd like to see:    Group_1:      User_1: 10      User_2: 5  Group_2:      User_2: 5    Getting this data is easy using SOQL, but I have no idea how to do it using reports.   Please help me ;)     @Reports & Dashboards

I Have an analytics report  with 3 rows (Month, Quarter, Year), when I download it in excel, its as it should be but when i subscribe to it in analytics and it sends the excel there's an empty row under the header and  row 1 is in row 2, 2 in row 3 and row 3 is missing.  what's the issue here? i have no limit on the query

Hi Erick - the fact that a manual Excel export is clean but the subscribed one has a blank row under the header, everything shifted down one, and the last row dropped points squarely at the subscription's file generation, not your report or query.

A few things to check / try:

    1. Groupings vs format: if this is a Summary report (grouped), the subscribed export often renders an extra structural/blank line that a plain export doesn't. Try a Tabular version of the same report (no groupings) as the subscription and see if the blank row and the shift disappear - that tells you the grouping rendering is the culprit.

    2. Subscription row handling: subscribed/attached results have their own limits and formatting, separate from a manual export, so a blank row consuming a slot can push your last row (row 3) off the end. That matches the 'shifted down + last one missing' symptom exactly.

    3. Confirm it's the platform: reproduce with a tiny 2-3 row report. If the blank-row-and-shift is consistent, this has the hallmarks of a known formatting quirk in subscribed report files rather than anything you configured - worth searching Salesforce Known Issues, and logging a case with the before/after files so Support can reproduce it.

Workarounds if you need clean output now:

    - Subscribe at the Dashboard level instead of the report, or

    - Use an Analytic Snapshot / a scheduled data export, which don't go through the same subscribed-report formatting.

If you can share whether the report is Tabular or Summary, and how the subscription is set up (attach results vs embedded), I can help narrow it down further.

Hope that helps track it down!

In our client on OKTA is enable so client don't want to use ' Require periodic step-up authentication when exporting or printing' feature because it required MFA for exporting reports, so please suggest me we can disable this feature or how we can bypass this feature other the IP restriction?

Hi @Indramani Tiwari If Require periodic step-up authentication when exporting or printing is enabled, Salesforce does not provide a supported way to bypass it. You can disable the feature only if your organization's security policy allows it. If your client uses Okta for MFA, review your identity and session security settings to determine whether the feature is required. Otherwise, the only supported options are to disable the setting or use trusted network/IP exceptions where appropriate.

Hello, @Liz Skaates, a few months ago there was an alert (shown below) that stated Reports and Dashboards will no longer be available in Classic after March 31, 2027. Is that still the plan that reports and dashboards will cease to function (view/manage) in Classic as of April 1, 2027? Or is this timeline been postponed? Furthermore, is there a potential date to retire Classic altogether? Thank you so much!Classic Retirement for Reports and Dashboards

Yes @Eric Burté, apologies for the duplicate post. However, I'm still trying to find a solid answer from Salesforce to ensure we're making decisions based on accurate deadlines. Cheers!

Hi all! I’m trying to add a Report Chart to an Account Plan Lightning page that shows all Contacts / Opportunities from every child account in the hierarchy, not just the current account.

What’s the best way to filter a report so that it automatically shows records for this account + all accounts underneath it in the hierarchy

Is there a recommended filter (Grandparent Id, etc?) that would support this?

Thanks in advance!

The only way that I can see doing this using the native Account Page filter:  Account ID , would be to create a Flow or Custom Code that automatically creates an Account Contact Relationship record for every Contact and Account within the entire Account Hierarchy.  Which in a large org would simply not be feasible or sustainable.

The problem/limitation is that in order for the embedded Chart to work the way that you described, it would need to tack the Account ID of the Account the user is viewing, and traverse the entire Account Hierarchy from Top to Bottom, and return every Contact or Opportunity within every matching Account, regardless of where in the Account Hierarchy that current Account is located.  That's simply "too heavy a lift" for the native Embedded Report Filter

Hi Everyone, I have a requirement where the dashboards built from multiple datasources but want to restrict the filter list of values on all dashboards (from multiple datasources) based on Main page/Landing page filter selection. When the user open the dashboard, the user goes to Landing page dashboard and do some filtering the data (probably 4 fields but only 1 out of 4 fields is common in all the datasources) and when click on within the page that takes to different dashboard (the new dashboard is based on different datasource/s). In the new dashboard, the common 1 field filter should show the list of values as in the Landing page after the filtering out the data. Can anyone has any idea to achieve this? TIA.  Regards,  Murali. @Reports & Dashboards

    @Murali V

Can you post screenshots of the Dashboard, and the Source Reports, showing the Report Type, the Settings, and Filters that you're currently using?

With the native Salesforce Dashboard Builder, the Dashboard Filters can only reference "common" fields that are present in all Source Report Types in each of the Dashboard Components, there is no "work-around"

Hi

I’m trying to display the cumulative number of opportunities for the current month and the same month in the same report, but y -1, in a graph like slacked bar, is it possible?

Thanks

Hi everyone.  Does anybody know a discontinuation of report functionality on the Classic UI?  My colleague claims to have spotted that message on the top banner of the Lightning homepage 1 or 2 months ago, but we have not yet found any further information at the SFDC support site.

Your feedback is really appreciated.  Best regards.

Currently, we have to limit the time frame to reduce the size of the file on a report showing all of the activities on opportunities if there are any, but we really only need the last activity record which we get in the Excel by exporting and deduping.

Unfortunately you can't create a Row-Level Report Formula in a Custom Report Type that has a "with or without" Object Relationship.

You'd need to do something custom like a Record Triggered Flow that inserta the most recent Activity Id into a custom field on the Opportunity Object, or something like that, but even then you're facing some pretty long odds
