A contact is already in the journey. He/she is tested for a particular field, say 'opt-in' status. If 'opted in' then go one way else go other way. When he/she entered the journey the status was 'opted in', however when he reached this check point, his/her status was changed to 'opted out' but still he/she is going 'opted in' way.

I guess it's something to do with 'contact data/journey data' but I am not sure.

Every automation has minimum 1 hr of waiting to re-run. Can this be bypassed? Is there a way to update a field immediately in the DE using automation?

Need to create a multi step form in Marketing Cloud. What's the best way out (be it a custom html form or smart capture)? Thanks.

    Hi @Ajay Rohera,

Custom code is the way to go. I'd suggest having each stage as a separate page that submits to a Data Extension (DE) and then redirects to the next stage of the form. For your problem above around someone being at the last stage but not having completed an earlier stage you could have some conditional logic to say if field from stage X is missing on the DE then redirect to that stage.

We are planning to use Marketing Cloud Connect for one of our business units on Salesforce.  But we have 3 other BUs who are not yet on Salesforce and we are manually importing contact lists to Marketing Cloud. For Marketing Cloud Connect, do we have to use Lead/Contact Id from Salesforce as the subscriber key or can we use something else?

The reason is we may have John Smith j.smith@gmail.com (Subscriber key 1234) and the unique identifier (1234) will be consistently used across all 4 BUs so we want to see if it's possible to use the external identifier until the other 3 BUs are ready to get on Salesforce. Appreciate any help or consideration that you all can provide #Ask An Expert #AskAMCExpert

Thanks Bogdan, I figured that was the case and this is a more complex use case.

Hi everyone,

I seem to be experiencing extremely slow load times. For example, I'm simply trying to delete one field from an empty data extension and it keeps showing that the deletion is in progress. I let it sit for 15 min at a time, but it never actually saves the edit. I've tried incognito, switching from chrome to firefox, etc. Anyone else experience this? It is really slowing me down and keeping me from making progress.   #Marketing Cloud #AskAMCExpert

We have a main MC account and one BU. Synchronized DEs are accessible only in the main account. We have created a filtered DE from the Sync DE and put it in shared folder. This filtered DE is accessible from BU (in the shared folder), however being a filtered DE we are not able to filter it further.

One way I could think of is to use query automation (by copying the data from this shared/filtered DE to a new DE), however being a little techy, don't want to give this solution to the client. Is there a simpler way out? Is it feasible to directly access the Sync DE from the BU?

Hey @Ajay Rohera have a look at the DESelect app that helps segment without the need to use SQL queries, but simply drag-and-drop, this will eliminate the necessity to dive into the tech explanations on how to filter the synced or synchronized DEs to your client.

Resolved.

We have imported a report from Sales Cloud into Marketing cloud which in turn have created a DE in MC. We want to add a 'locale' field in this DE, however while doing so it's neither showing any error nor adding the field.

Is it feasible to add a field in this DE in MC?

Thanks everyone. Here are my finding: First of all MC doesn't allow to have default value for a 'locale' field in any kind of DE. Strange but true. So I added 'locale' field without any default value and it got added. Then I used a query automation to add the 'locale' value. This workaround worked in my case.

I want to fix the SSL issue so that our customers don't have issues opening our emails. This help page explains the issue in more detail: https://help.salesforce.com/articleView?id=000355099&type=1&mode=1  I asked my MC Account Executive to give me a quote to fix this, even though normally when an issue like this affects existing customers the company responsible fixes the issue without charging their customers. But this is Salesforce... anyways this is her answer:

Hi Alberto,

Our provisioning team configures the SSLs and upkeeps their security throughout your Contract. The list price for the 2 SSLs is $5,040.

Let me know if you'd like to proceed.

Marketing Cloud Account Executive

These are all the problems I have with this answer: 1. It's a Salesforce problem so you should fix it without us having to pay, as this is an issue that affects salesforce from fulfilling their contract 2. Why do we need 2 SSLs? 3. Normally 1 SSL certificate is free, even Mailchimp offers this. An SSL wouldn't cost more than $100. Salesforce wants $5,000 for 2 SSL certificates to fix their own issue  The solution I thought was to buy our own SSL certificates and then install them ourselves.   After trying to figure out how to setup these SSL certificates and getting nowhere my Account Executive created a ticket to help with this. This is the answer I received:

Hi Alberto,

Thank you for your response.

What I want to know is:

Where can we upload our certificate in Marketing Cloud if this is something that we can do ourselves?

--Please note that even if you have SSL certificates to apply to a domain, it would require you to have a SSL SKU available on the account for it to be configured on the domain.

I did check further and could not see any spare SSL SKU available on this account. You will need to contact the AE of the account to confirm of there is a purchase available on the account and if not, then you will have to proceed with a purchase . The SAP domain to be completely secured with the SSL certificates will require 2 SSL SKU, one for (click, view and cloud links) and one for (images). You may mention in the form that you already have the certificates and would like to configure them to the domain in SFMC.

If we can’t do this ourselves, who do we need to contact to make this change?

Once the purchase is in place and the form is filled up, the SSL team would connect with you through their own case that is created. SSL team is the team who takes care of anything related to SSL. Unfortunately, a customer cannot configure them themselves in Marketing Cloud. Support does not involve in the process and thus can only provide any information that's required regarding this.

This case was created to know which domain would require SSL to be applied to , which was confirmed to be the SAP domain "mail.onlineautoparts.com.au".

For any further details related to the SKU and purchase, I request you to please connect with the AE and they would be able to assist you further.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any further questions. If not, please let me know if I can proceed to mark this as closed as the requested information was provided.

I await your response. If I do not hear from you today, I shall proceed to mark this as closed tomorrow by the end of the day.

Thank You

Regards,

    Hi Agni,

Loading mixed content over HTTPS is a security vulnerability, so it makes sense that Chrome has made this change, and I presume that more browsers are going to enforce this. You can read more about the risk here: https://resources.infosecinstitute.com/topic/https-mixed-content-vulnerability/   Also, when a customer clicks on the link "View on browser" from a marketing email the page will highlight that the connection is not secure. This happens in Chrome, Firefox, and Edge on desktop and mobile.   How is this a Chrome issue? and not a Salesforce issue?

On a client's website forms are connected with MC using webform and data is coming into a DE (in the Marketing Cloud). Is there a way to sync this data with Sales Cloud?

SFMC can export/import data two ways: files and/or API. SFMC has a connection with SFDC (MC Connector), so there is an OOTB API way of passing the data back and forward.

For real-time SFDC update: the form submission page that stores data in a DE can also write the data into SFDC (by creating or updating an existing object entry) via AMPScript functions. I'm assuming the form back-end page is hosted by SFMC.

For near-time SFDC update: if the for submission page is not hosted on SFMC, you can do the same as above in an hourly automation with a SSJS activity. Optimal for small amount of data submitted.

For once a day (or big amount of data): do a data extract of the DE and work with your SFDC people to export it via a file transfer to Sales Cloud and have the platform import it.
