While completing the basic configuration of Marketing Cloud Next, when I selected the existing identity resolution ruleset the status still shows "Not Started" in my Sandbox account. Do I have to click "Generate Ruleset" necessarily? Because the help document shows otherwise.

Predefined identity ruleset selection issue in MC Next

Hi all,

I have a project with a client that sends emails in multiple languages.

They switched from AC to MC Next.

We used one email for all the languages, using the multilingual variant from MC Next.

The email is composed of header/footer ( as content blocks) and email body. They all have the language variant translated. In a test send, the email renders correctly, but in a real send, only the email is translated ( not the header/footer)....any clues on why this happens...and solution? ( one workaround is to put the header/footer in the email, but in case smtg changes, then all the emails need to be changed, as MCNext has the policy for 1 email/1 form/1 flow).

Content Block not being translated in MCNext

Thank you :)

Yes, it was based on my tk to support I believe :)

Hi everyone,

I sent an email from Marketing Cloud Next and the Link Name column in the email engagement report is empty for my CTA. I’d like to understand how to correctly set a link name so that each CTA can be identified in the report.

Scenario 1: Custom HTML

I imported custom HTML where the CTA is a standard anchor with an alias attribute:

html

<a href="https://example.com" alias="CTA_Book_Appointment" target="_blank">Book an appointment</a>

The link is tracked (the URL is rewritten), but Link Name is blank in the report.

  • Is the alias attribute supported in Marketing Cloud Next, as it is in Marketing Cloud Engagement?
  • If not, is there another attribute or syntax for custom HTML?
  • Are there limitations (for example, anchors inside conditional comments such as <!--[if !mso]><!-- -->, or VML buttons for Outlook)?

Scenario 2: Native builder

  • Where exactly can I set the Link Name when I use the platform’s builder components (button, text link, image link)? I can’t find the field in the properties panel.
  • Is it mapped to ssot__LinkName__c on the Email Link Click event, so it shows up both in the report and in Data Cloud?

Additional questions

  • Is there any delay before Link Name shows up in the report?
  • Does the link name need to be unique within the email?

I couldn’t find official documentation for Marketing Cloud Next on this, only the Engagement docs on link tracking. Any pointer to the right documentation or a working example would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi team: In Marketing Cloud Next, are flows (Journeys in MCE) first implemented in a sandbox environment and then deployed to production? Also, must the contact exist in the CRM, or can they originate from another system? What ID is used?

Thanks

Thanks! Thanks. Could I use, for example, the `contactID` as the ID in some cases, and an ID from a CIAM system in others? There are scenarios where a person might register in the CIAM system first—and then potentially be added to the CRM—or vice versa.

After installation of Package and Kits, can we add one whatsapp number of sandbox(for testing) and then on production instance?  does this cause any issues?

Also can we test this on my personal business account with SDO org?  I have been trying to connect but unable to connect with WABA since WABA requires verification..

Any insight on this?

    Hi Hanan,

For WhatsApp integration with Marketing Cloud Advanced, I’d keep the sandbox/testing and production setup separate. You can generally use a test WhatsApp number/WABA for sandbox testing and then configure the production WABA/number separately, but make sure the required Meta/WABA assets and permissions are available for each environment.

For a personal business account, the main limitation is usually the Meta/WABA verification and business setup requirements. If the WABA cannot complete verification, the Salesforce connection may not be able to complete either.

I’d recommend using the Meta-provided test/sandbox setup where available for initial testing rather than connecting a personal production business number. Once the Salesforce configuration is validated, move to the production WABA and number.

If you’re getting a specific error while connecting the WABA, share the exact error message and where the connection fails (Meta or Salesforce), and it should be easier to narrow down the issue.

I'm building a Marketing Cloud Next (Growth/Advanced Edition) flow with this logic:

  1. Send an email to a segment. The email contains 6 links total, but only 3 specific links are "qualifying" engagement signals.
  2. Wait 7 days.
  3. If the contact has not clicked any of those 3 specific links, resend the same email.
  4. Wait 7 days again.
  5. If still no click on those 3 links, send the email one final time, then stop.
  6. If a contact clicks any of the 3 qualifying links at any point, they exit immediately and receive no further sends.

Where I'm stuck:

The

Wait Until Event → Email Link Click element only lets me select either "every link" (all 6, which is too broad) or "one specific link" (only 1 at a time). There's no option to select a subset

of 3 specific links as a single OR condition inside that element.

My question: Is there a supported way to configure Wait Until Event (or any other element) to listen for a click on any one of several specific links

(not all links, not just one), so contacts who engage early can exit the wait immediately? Or is the fixed-Wait + Decision-with-Count approach the correct/only pattern for this in MCN today? Would appreciate a full recommended flow architecture if I'm missing a cleaner element for this.

As far as I can tell from the current documentation and community write-ups, you're not missing an element: the Email Link Click event in Wait Until Event is configured as either "any link in the email" or "one specific link", and there is no multi-select/OR list of links inside a single event condition.

The good news is that for your requirement the fixed-wait + decision pattern gives exactly the same outcome as an early exit. In your design the only actions happen at day 7 and day 14, so a contact who clicks a qualifying link on day 2 and a contact whose click is checked on day 7 both simply receive no further emails. Exiting early only changes when the contact leaves the flow, not what they receive. So I would treat it as the correct, supported pattern:

    1. Send Email (version A).

    2. Wait 7 days (fixed duration).

    3. Decision "Clicked a qualifying link?": check the contact's email engagement for this email/flow for a click on link 1 OR link 2 OR link 3 (use the engagement/link click data available in your decision criteria, filtered to this email and the three URLs). If true, go to End.

    4. Otherwise Send Email again, Wait 7 days, repeat the same Decision.

    5. If still no qualifying click, Send Email the final time, then End.

If your org lets you add more than one event path to a Wait Until Event element, you can also get true early exits: add three paths, each an Email Link Click on one of the three specific links, all leading to End, with the 7-day timeout path leading to the resend. Check whether the element in your release shows "Add Event"/multiple paths; if it only allows one, use the fixed-wait version above.

    Tips:

    1. Give the three qualifying links distinct, stable URLs (e.g. unique UTM parameters) so they're easy to match in the decision and in reporting, and so the three non-qualifying links can't match accidentally.

    2. Because engagement data can arrive with some delay, a fixed 7-day wait followed by a decision is actually more reliable than racing a real-time event.

    3. Add a frequency/suppression rule or segment exclusion so contacts who unsubscribe or bounce also stop receiving the resends.

Assumption: I couldn't find official documentation confirming whether multiple event paths are supported in a single Wait Until Event element in your edition, or the exact field names for link-click criteria in the Decision element, so please verify those two points in your org; the overall recommendation (fixed wait + decision) doesn't depend on them.

Hi everyone, I have uploaded an image and a PDF document in the CMS area of Marketing Cloud Next and I would like to obtain the public URL of both in order to insert them into the custom HTML of an email.

Unlike the "old" Marketing Cloud Engagement, the URL is not immediately accessible — I had to send myself a test email with the image inserted and then retrieve the image URL through the browser. As for the PDF, I am unable to obtain a link for viewing it in the browser, but only a URL that triggers an automatic download when opened.

Do you have any suggestions? It seems unreasonable that something like this is not easily accessible.

    Hi Adriano,

For pictures, you can use the 6th recipe in this article.

For PDF, I reckon this is not possible, even though you can store them in the CMS . For this, I'd recommend using the regular Salesforce Files instead.

    Hope this helps 😎

Flow: MCN to CRM Email Consent Status Update

Trigger: Data Cloud-Triggered Flow on ssot__CommunicationSubscriptionConsent__dlm, "A record is created or updated," 1 entry condition

Logic: Get Lead (matched via IndividualId = ssot__PartyId__c) → Real Change Check (compares Lead's Consent_Sync_Status__c picklist to incoming ssot__PrivacyConsentStatus__c) → if different, update Lead's HasOptedOutOfEmail and Consent_Sync_Status__c.

Debug (manually selecting a Data Cloud record) runs end-to-end successfully and updates the Lead correctly. But updating Consent Status for real in production never triggers the flow — waited 20+ minutes.

Data Cloud-Triggered Flow works in Debug but never fires on real Consent Status updates

Has anyone hit this same Debug-works/real-trigger-doesn't gap on Data Cloud-Triggered Flows? Is it an entry condition prior-value issue, or a DMO ingestion delay?

    Hi Khushal,

Looking at your screenshot, there is an immediate culprit visible right at the top bar:

    1. The Flow Version is Currently Inactive

In your screenshot, the status pill next to the save date clearly shows Inactive, and the blue Activate button is present in the top-right corner.

    • In Flow Builder, the Debug button works regardless of whether the flow is active, because it allows you to simulate execution on any saved draft version.

    • However, a Data Cloud-Triggered Flow will never listen for or fire on incoming DMO events until it is explicitly Activated.

    • Action: Click Activate in the top right, make sure the status pill turns green (Active), and then test again.

If it remains inactive or fails to trigger even after activating, check these three common Data Cloud-specific caveats:

    2. Check the Start Element Entry Condition Requirement

In the start element, you have "1 Entry Condition" defined:

    • When setting entry criteria with "A record is created or updated", check the evaluation setting: "Only when a record is updated to meet the condition requirements" vs. "Every time a record is updated and meets the condition requirements".

    • In Data Cloud, change-data-capture evaluation for previous values can behave unexpectedly if incoming updates from ingestion streams batch or upsert without firing delta states. If possible, set it to evaluate every time or handle the strict filtering inside your decision elements instead.

    3. Ingestion & DLO-to-DMO Mapping Cadence

    • How is the consent record being updated upstream? If it enters via a Data Stream (e.g., Connector or Ingestion API), it writes to a Data Lake Object (DLO) first.

    • The Data Cloud-Triggered Flow listens to the DMO (ssot__CommunicationSubscriptionConsent__dlm), not the DLO. Depending on the ingestion stream type (streaming vs. hourly/batch batch run), there can be a delay between the data entering Data Cloud and the DMO upsert actually publishing the change event that the flow subscribes to.

    4. Data Space Mismatch

    • Your start element is set to Data Space: default.

    • Ensure the incoming consent updates are actually being ingested and resolved into the default Data Space and not routed into a custom Data Space (which would isolate the records from this trigger).

Summary: Hit the blue Activate button first—that is almost certainly why Debug works while real events are completely ignored!

We have created a campaign, landing page, form, flow in the marketing cloud next but it's not working, the test lead is not coming through

I’d check the Flow first. A form submission by itself doesn’t necessarily mean a Lead gets created, the Flow still needs the right create-record action and field mapping. Also check the Flow run history after a test submission, that should tell you pretty quickly where it stops.

I’m working on a Marketing Cloud Next email response flow with three email buttons: Interested, Not Interested, and Unsure.

I’m using Wait Until Event → Email Link Click and then a Decision element to identify which button was clicked and update the Lead’s Email_Response__c field accordingly.

The issue is that the click event gives me $Event.ssot__LinkURL__c, but the URL is Salesforce’s rewritten tracking URL. I checked the corresponding Email Engagement DMO record in Data Explorer using the Engagement ID, but LinkName is blank, so I can’t reliably determine which of the three buttons was clicked.

I need to know the Salesforce-supported way in Marketing Cloud Next to identify the specific email link/button clicked from the Email Link Click event, and which field/resource I should use in the Flow Decision.

    Hii

    Khushal,

The reason LinkName is coming back blank is the root cause here — it's expected behavior, not a bug, when links aren't given an explicit identifier at authoring time.

    Why $Event.ssot__LinkURL__c isn't reliable

That field returns Salesforce's rewritten/tracked redirect URL, not your original destination URL, so matching on it directly in a Decision element is fragile.

Recommended fix: set a unique alias on each button

    1. In your email in the Marketing Cloud Next content builder, open each of the three buttons (Interested / Not Interested / Unsure).
    2. In the button/link properties, set a distinct Link Name (alias) for each — e.g. Interested, NotInterested, Unsure.
    3. Send a fresh test and re-check the Email Engagement DMO record in Data Explorer — LinkName should now be populated instead of blank.
    4. In your flow, keep your Wait Until Event → Email Link Click element as is, then in the Decision element branch on the Link Name resource (ssot__LinkName__c) instead of the URL field. This gives you a clean, exact match for each of the three outcomes.

Alternative, if you can't set an alias

    (e.g. dynamic/personalized links)

    Use the

"Resolve URL" Event Global Resource available on the flow canvas. Configure your Email Link Click event to trigger on "every link" rather than one specific link, then branch your Decision element on the resolved URL instead of $Event.ssot__LinkURL__c. This works even without a LinkName, as long as each button points to a distinct destination URL.

Since your three buttons are static, setting the alias is the cleaner, more maintainable option — it's purpose-built for exactly this scenario and avoids any URL-parsing logic in your flow.
