Hello!

We are excited to start using Salesforce Channels, but we would be missing the Chatter group functionality when using Salesforce Channels. I wonder if there is somehow a way to replicate this functionality in Slack, or achieve something similar?

What we like about Chatter groups

  • You can reach out to a group
  • Each member can customize their notifications
    •  There are only a couple of members who need to do a pass of the mentions/requests/concerns that come in, and respond. They pull in others from the group if needed. They are notified of every post.
    • Other members just need to be able to check in and act as back-up when the others are out. They tend to set their notifications to daily or weekly digests. Or, only go to the chatter page to check in
  • You can go to the group's chatter page to view all mentions and see all responses (progress) to the original mentions
    • This gives us a way to check on updates, see if there are action items, if there are mentions that still need to be followed up on, or haven't been replied to.
    • This is something anyone can go into, and isn't tied to just a single user or users individually

I would love it if users could mention the group within Salesforce Channels, which would then send the notification nudge to the group and send that over to a Slack Channel. In a dream world, any thread responses would update in the Slack Channel, similar to the Group Chatter page.

I've tried Slack user groups. Notifications work, but all responses in Slack happen in the individual record's Slack/Salesforce channels. You would have to do a search for the group name to pull up mentions.

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on how we might be able to achieve something similar?

Thanks in advance,

Jackie

I posted about this consideration on the Slack Community Workspace here and I have already gotten a great response (thank you Kevin Rosario [https://krosario.com/

]). I've seconded the idea he submitted on the Slack Community Workspace.

    From Kevin,

"While it’s not 100%, you can create a custom view in the Activity tab to only see messages where User Groups have been mentioned

    1. Go to Activity on the left-hand side of Slack (under Home)
    2. Click the to add a new view
    3. Click Create a custom view
    4. Select @user-group and name it whatever you want, then save (or add more filters if needed)

The main drawback is that you cannot filter by User Group, which I will add as feedback in #feedback, meaning if you’re in 10 User Groups then all those messages will appear there"

💙 Setup with Agentforce is quickly becoming my go-to Salesforce assistant.

As someone actively learning and building on Salesforce, one of the biggest challenges is knowing where to find the right setup option or how

to configure it correctly. Setup with Agentforce changes that experience completely.

Instead of jumping between documentation, Trailhead, and multiple browser tabs, I can simply ask a question in natural language and get clear, relevant guidance right inside Salesforce. It makes learning faster, reduces confusion, and gives me more confidence while exploring new features.

One thing I'd love to see in future updates is deeper troubleshooting support with step-by-step explanations for complex scenarios and links to related best practices.

Overall, this feels less like a search tool and more like having an experienced Salesforce mentor available whenever I need help. 👏🚀

I'm in the middle of migrating from Chatter to Slack Channels for Records at my company and wanted to share four product gaps we hit along the way.

I submitted all four to the IdeaExchange and also to the Slack Community workspace

#feedback

channel, which I only just learned about through this process.

If you haven't heard of it, the Slack Community workspace (

community.slack.com) has a dedicated #feedback

channel where ideas go directly to Slack PMs and have been known to get actioned quickly. Worth knowing if you've only been posting here or to the IdeaExchange.

Here are the four ideas, upvotes appreciated:

  1. Slack Channels for Records: Add Branded Slack Button in Dynamic Highlights Panel — when Dynamic Forms is enabled on a Lightning record page, the Slack integration surfaces as a plain "Open in Slack" text button instead of the branded Slack button. Confirmed with Salesforce Support as a limitation of the Dynamic Actions framework with no workaround today.
  2. Slack Channels for Records: Parent Channel Routing for Custom Object Hierarchies — no way to route or prompt a user to use a parent record's existing channel when creating a channel on a child record.
  3. Slack Channels for Records: Set Default Sidebar Sections by Object Type — no way for admins to define which sidebar section a channel lands in by default when created by Slack Channels for Records.
  4. Slack Channels for Records: Hierarchical Record Display with Notifications — no way to see where a record sits in its object hierarchy from the Slack sidebar without clicking into the record.

If you are planning a Chatter to Slack Channels for Records migration or are in the middle of one, would love to hear your perspective in the comments.

If possible let me know where I could see this I'm going to the people tab and click on a user group and what I'd like to see is all messages where that user group @admins or any custom group created to see all the activity where that group is mentioned is that possible (like an activity feed for the group)?
