    Hi Jahnavi,

    I agree with Hideaki's approach.

    One advantage of this method is that the text colors will automatically stay in sync with the Transaction Type color legend. This can be easier to maintain than manually formatting labels when new categories are added.

    Another option would be to use a separate worksheet for the labels and align it within a dashboard. This provides more formatting flexibility, although Hideaki's dual-axis approach is probably the simpler and more maintainable solution.

    Hope this helps!

We are getting very close to maxing out on memory and I need to find a solution for the issue or at least a way to minimize the impact.

    Hi @John Krieg

    I do not know what "vizqlserver.clear_session_delay_minutes" does, I've never seen it documented anywhere, used and I've never used it personally.

    If you really want to know, you will need to ask the Tableau Support.

    If you are interested into advanced keys for memory you can read this great article:

    https://enterprisetableau.com/memory/ But again, you need to know your instance and have detailled monitoring metrics to be able to take decisions.

    That "child process suspended by another process" error is almost always your antivirus / endpoint-security (EDR) software stepping in — Tableau spins up a small helper process to read the file, and the security tool suspends it before it can finish, so it can't resume. It's not really the Power Query itself.

    Ask IT to add Tableau to the AV/EDR exclusions — the Tableau Desktop Bin folder + tableau.exe (and its child processes), plus the Tableau temp/repository folder. Quick way to confirm it's the culprit: temporarily disable the AV (or try on a machine without that EDR) and see if the error clears.

Bug: Radial/Sankey chart in Show Me corrupts workbook (Error D2E8DA72) even after Undo

Summary:

Clicking on the Radial or Sankey chart type in the "Show Me" panel — even briefly, and even if immediately undone — permanently corrupts the workbook file. Saving and reopening the file afterward fails with Error Code D2E8DA72.

Environment:

- Tableau Desktop, Professional Edition

- Version 2026.2.0 (20262.26.0603.1643)

- Windows

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Open any workbook (new or existing) in Tableau Desktop 2026.2.0

2. Select a worksheet and open the "Show Me" panel

3. Click on the Radial (or Sankey) chart type once

4. Immediately press Ctrl+Z (Undo)

5. Save the workbook as a packaged .twbx file

6. Close Tableau Desktop

7. Reopen the same .twbx file

Expected Result:

The workbook should open normally, since the chart type was undone and never appears on any sheet.

Actual Result:

Tableau fails to load the workbook with the following error:

Error Code: D2E8DA72

Error: no declaration found for element 'worksheet-extension'

Error: attribute 'extension-version' is not declared for element 'worksheet-extension'

Error: attribute 'id' is not declared for element 'worksheet-extension'

Error: element 'worksheet-extension' is not allowed for content model '(document-format-change-manifest,(dashboard-extension),resources?)'

Root Cause (as far as I can diagnose):

Even though the chart action is undone and never persists visibly in the workbook, Tableau still writes a <referenced-extensions> manifest block into the underlying .twb XML the moment the chart type is clicked. This manifest references the built-in extension (e.g. com.tableau.extension.radial) but appears to be incompatible with the workbook's own internal file-format version, causing Tableau's own XML validator to reject the file on the next load. This happens even in a workbook that never uses the chart on any actual sheet.

Workaround (manual):

1. Rename the .twbx file to .zip

2. Extract the zip

3. Open the .twb file in a text editor

4. Search for "referenced-extensions"

5. Delete the entire block from <referenced-extensions> to </referenced-extensions>

6. Save the .twb file

7. Re-zip the .twb file along with the Data folder

8. Rename the new zip back to .twbx

The file then opens normally with no loss of dashboard content.

Impact:

This is a significant reliability risk since:

- It occurs with no warning at the time the chart is clicked or undone

- It can silently corrupt a file that appears completely fine until the next reopen

- It could affect students/professionals submitting workbooks for grading or review, since a file that worked when last saved may fail to open for the recipient

I'm happy to share the exact corrupted and fixed .twb/.twbx files if useful for reproducing or debugging this on your end.

I have a complicated issue due to how the shareholders want the data displayed and the calculations involved.

What I am trying to do is simply get for Month 1 for the [Projected Carry From Prior Month] to be

Month 0 ([Shipments Calc] + Month 0 [LOD Actual Demand]) -  Month 0 [Forecast) resulting in 24,422 ((14,490 + 111,872)-101,940).

I kept the Old Formula for the [Projected Carry From Prior Month] metric in the workbook as it is made up of three calculations. The issue is when i bring in [LOD Actual Demand] I get the error of cannot mix aggregate and non-aggregate. No matter what I try I cant get the error to fix unless I break the [LOD Actual Demand] by taking off the additional SUM in the formula which results in the wrong answer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Tried multiple

Expected End Result of formula:

Month 0 is 0 by default since there is no carryover. So for

Month 0 the calc should show 0,

Month 1 the calc should show 24,422

Month 2 the calc should show 12,844

Month 3 the calc should show 13,756

Hoping there is a Fix for this LOD

    Thank you. I actually solved my own issue by (like most issues in Tableau) restructuring my data tables using SQL since Tableau can't handle calculations like PowerBI or Microstrategy. I simply combined the Actual Demand with the Past Due Tons before ingesting it to Tableau, therefore eliminating the additional LOD for Past Due Tons. Its wild to me how limiting Tableau is with calculations especially if you have used other BI tools. Thank you all for your help.

Hi all

Has any one else experienced the issue that the Sankey Viz extension doesn’t install when trying to complete the ā€œAdd a Stanley Viz Extension to your worksheetā€ module? Also Table Viz Extension.

I’ve tried many times, made sure Tableau public is connected. Etc etc.

Any idea? Or it’s a know issue.

Would really like to finish the Tableau: Data Visualisation and Storytelling Trail by completing the Viz Extentions in Tableau Worksheets badge.

    @Glenn Smith

    This one is almost always the browser blocking the extension rather than anything wrong with your steps - viz extensions load inside a sandboxed iframe served from an external host, so anything that blocks that iframe stops Sankey/Table from ever appearing.

    A few things to check, in order:

    - Launch the unit fresh from Trailhead and sign in to your Tableau Public account inside that playground window. Don't refresh or reopen the tab mid-unit - the playground resets and you lose the extension - so do the whole unit in one sitting.

    - When you pick the extension under Marks card > Add an Extension, watch for the permission prompt and click Allow/Open. Network-enabled extensions will not run until you grant that.

    - Try a clean Chrome window (or Incognito with third-party cookies allowed) and turn off ad-blockers / strict tracking protection for the session. That is the usual reason the extension silently fails to load.

    - Make sure JavaScript is enabled - viz extensions use the Tableau Extensions API JavaScript library, so a blocked script means no extension.

Need help with the following LOD called "LOD Line Weekly Past Due Tons". Its essentially tons that have not shipped from prior months up to the current Month (Month 0). I would expect 11,562 to appear on every Month Number. I can get that with a simple Exclude. however when trying to add to "Actual Demand" of 100,310 I get 111,348 instead of 111,562. See "LOD Actual Demand Week" for the formula where I expected to see 111,562. Any Ideas how to get this to be able to add across correctly. See Test Tab 2

    @Blake Swan

    Hi, you may use:

    SUM({ FIXED [Charter Product Type],

    [Customer Name],

    [Customer Number],

    [Market Segment],

    [Product Type],

    [Month Number In Relation To Current]:

    SUM(

    IF [Month Number In Relation To Current] = 0

    THEN [Actual Demand]

    END

    )

    })

    +

    SUM({ SUM([Line Weekly Past Due Tons])

    })

Hi, I have a table that has a large data set behind it that takes awhile to load. Is there a way to not have the table appear unless one of the filters is selected? I'm using tableau online. Thanks.

    For you to see the True option, make sure only 1 set has a member selected before you add the filter, or all sets do. You can edit set membership from the data pane.
