We were just given an upgrade to Customer Community Plus licenses which require that new users be provisioned with a role attached to it. Because default, SF is creating a new role for each new users and placing them under our Sales Manager in our Role Hierarchy. I have two questions:
- Does anyone know why it defaulted in putting users there in the role hierarchy?
- And what would be best practice for them as far as being in a role hierarchy? Should they be in their own branch? Under revenue?
It's odd because when I click on the role on the user record, it will detail where it falls in the role hierarchy. But then when I go to Setup>Users>Roles and look at our org set up, I do not see the community plus role listed.

for the first question the answer is:
The role hierarchy rolls up to the account owner
