#Salesforce Labs8 debatiendo

Salesforce Labs is a program that lets salesforce.com engineers, professional services staff and other employees share AppExchange apps they've created with the customer community. Inspired by employees' work with customers of all sizes and industries, these apps range from simple utilities to entire vertical solutions. Salesforce Labs apps are free to use, but are not official salesforce.com products, and should be considered community projects - these apps are not officially tested or documented. For help on any Salesforce Labs app please consult the Salesforce message boards - salesforce.com support is not available for these applications. Questions? Please visit https://success.salesforce.com/answers.

Our org is looking to upgrade any installed packages that still have components on an API version below 45.0. One of the last ones we have is Dashboard Pal, which is a Salesforce Labs app.

The latest version v2.6.0 (last updated on the appexchange on 01/09/2023) still has some components on API versions below 45.0.

Is there anyone I can contact about these Salesforce Labs apps? I can't see any support email on the appexchange listing. I also can't seem to find the Salesforce Labs group which I have been told does exist!

Because Dashboard Pal is a free Salesforce Labs application rather than an officially supported commercial product, it does not have a dedicated direct support email on the AppExchange. Instead, Salesforce Labs tools are community-supported. Here are some options for support:

    1. Post here on the Trailblazer, like you already have.

    2. Open a Salesforce support case, but remember that you may not get help because it is a Salesforce Labs appL

    https://help.salesforce.com/s/case-submission

     3. Since many Salesforce Labs solutions are open source, you can check the

Dashboard Pal GitHub Repository to log issues, view pull requests, or inspect code components regarding API versions.

    Hello Rajan,

its system admin job to take the back of field data. EX: we are sending mail to business user that we are going to delete that custom field. There is delay in getting a response from business user ( more the 15days or 1 month) .Even though admin will take a back of field data and we can gohead with deletion. It's admin job. We can't ask him to why and what. If there is any data lost we have rights to ask system admin.

    with above points.

i have some more points to make ANS-B stronger

Option D-- if you delete the custom field which added already in the page layout, that spacific custom field automatically removed from Page layout after delete the field. no need to remove manually. So option D  is not in the list.

coming to Option A- if you restore your field old field values in to new field, that is  not a best approach. if you forget to delete the old field and value later on its  duplication and waste of memory.

So Option B is in the list.

    Hope i helped you.

hope it will clear. Mark best ANSWER if you are clear with this point.

You can start with the basics of Apex classes and triggers, then practice with simple real-world examples. Trailhead has some good beginner modules, and there are plenty of English resources, for Telugu, YouTube tutorials can also be helpful.

Hi everyone,

I am encountering a blocking issue with the Analytics Adoption Metadata managed package (Salesforce Labs) and wanted to report this bug to see if a workaround exists or if a patch is planned.

The Error:

The asynchronous process fails with an exception indicating that ApexPages.addMessage() is being invoked from a non-Visualforce context.

(Optional: Paste the exact stack trace line here if you have it, e.g., System.HandledException: ApexPages.addMessage can only be called from a Visualforce page context).

Technical Breakdown:

  • Root Cause: The exception is thrown by the WaveMetaDataQueueable job, which executes asynchronously.
  • The Conflict: The code is attempting to use ApexPages.addMessage() to handle an error or status. While this works perfectly during a synchronous Visualforce page request, it is completely detached from a page context when running in a Queueable Apex process.
  • The Result: Salesforce throws a runtime exception because there is no UI page to attach the message to.

The Roadblock:

Because this is part of the managed

Analytics Adoption Metadata package, the underlying source code of WaveMetaDataQueueable is hidden. I cannot manually wrap this in a conditional context check (like checking if ApexPages.currentPage() is null) or remove the line myself.

Has anyone else run into this with the latest release, or does anyone know if the Salesforce Labs team is actively tracking a patch for this queueable class? Any advice or temporary workarounds would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi there,

There is a tracked issue on

    issues.salesforce.com

: "Einstein Analytics - Adoption App - Apex Error Argument cannot be null," which describes the same WaveMetaDataQueueable class failing after installing the Analytics Adoption Metadata package. The exact error text differs slightly from yours (Argument cannot be null vs. the ApexPages.addMessage context error), but it's the same failing queueable class in the same managed package — worth checking that issue thread for current status/comments, since it confirms this isn't isolated to your org.

Since the package is managed and WaveMetaDataQueueable's source is hidden, you're right that you can't patch around it directly. Practical options in the meantime:

    1. Disable the Adoption Metadata dataflow trigger. In Setup → Analytics Settings (or via the AnalyticsSettings metadata, analyticsAdoptionMetadata flag), you can turn off automatic Adoption Analytics metadata collection so the queueable stops firing and throwing the exception on schedule.

    2. Check/upvote the existing issue on

    issues.salesforce.com

rather than filing a duplicate — that's the channel Salesforce Labs teams actually monitor for prioritization, and comments/votes there carry more weight toward getting a fix scheduled than a community thread.

    3. If this isn't business-critical for you right now, uninstalling the package until a patch lands is the cleanest way to stop the recurring failed async job/error emails.

Since it's a Salesforce Labs (not core platform) managed package, there's no formal SLA on a fix — the

issues.salesforce.com thread is genuinely your best channel to track and push for resolution.

We're trying to install your package (AppExchange listing ID: a0N300000016ZsfEAE) into our Salesforce org and the install fails with:

Package url - https://appexchange.salesforce.com/appxListingDetail?listingId=a0N300000016ZsfEAE

(AppExchange Dashboard Pack for Sales, Marketing and Service)

CustomField(Account.Data_Quality_Score__c)

You referenced an unsupported field type called "Text (Encrypted)" using the following field: LEN

CustomField(Contact.Data_Quality_Score__c)

You referenced an unsupported field type called "Phone (Encrypted)" using the following field: LEN

Context: Our org has Shield Platform Encryption enabled on Account.Phone and Contact.Phone (deterministic encryption) for HIPAA/PHI compliance, and we can't disable it. It looks like your Data_Quality_Score__c formula field calls LEN() on Phone, and Salesforce formulas can't reference encrypted fields — so the deploy is rejected.

Questions:

  1. Is there a package version or install option that excludes Phone (or other Shield-encryptable fields) from the Data_Quality_Score__c formula?
  2. Can we install first and customize/rebuild that formula afterward (a post-install config or "advanced install" mode)?
  3. Do you offer (or plan to offer) an Apex/Flow-based version of this scoring logic instead of a formula field, since Apex in system context can read encrypted values with proper permissions?
  4. Have other customers with Shield Platform Encryption hit this same conflict — and how was it resolved?

We'd prefer not to disable encryption on Phone, even temporarily, given compliance requirements.

Thanks,

    Hi Ravi,

This is a hard platform limitation, not something specific to this package's install options — formula fields (including LEN() and any other function) simply cannot reference a field with Shield Platform Encryption enabled, regardless of encryption type (deterministic or probabilistic). There's no install mode, package version, or config toggle that can bypass this, since it's enforced at the metadata/formula-compilation level by the platform itself, not by the package.

    Answering your questions directly:

    1. No install option can exclude Phone from the formula while keeping the field itself unchanged — the formula field's definition is fixed at package build time. Since it's a Salesforce Labs package (community-supported, not a vendor with a support team), there's no "encrypted-field-safe" variant to switch to; you'd need to modify the metadata yourself post-install (see #2).

    2. Yes — this is your real path forward. Since this is an unmanaged or lightly-managed Labs package (most Labs apps are), you should have edit access to the Data_Quality_Score__c formula after install. Deploy the package, then immediately edit that formula field to remove the LEN(Phone) reference (or rebuild the scoring logic to exclude Phone entirely). If the package is a managed package and the field is locked, you won't be able to edit it at all — worth confirming which type it is before installing.

    3. Apex can read encrypted field values only if the running user has "View Encrypted Data" permission — it does NOT bypass encryption for everyone, and even Apex referencing encrypted fields in a SOQL WHERE clause or certain operations has platform restrictions (you can query and return encrypted field values to permitted users, but can't do things like LIKE filtering on ciphertext for probabilistic encryption). So an Apex/Flow version could work for LEN()-style logic, but only for users granted View Encrypted Data — it's not a clean drop-in replacement without also managing that permission carefully. This isn't something you can get "from the package" as-is; it'd require custom rebuilding of the Data_Quality_Score__c logic in Apex.

    4. This is a well-known Shield Platform Encryption conflict for any formula field on Account/Contact.Phone or similar PII fields — anyone using Shield Encryption commonly hits this with any AppExchange package (Labs or paid) that includes formula fields referencing standard PII fields. The typical resolution is exactly what's in #2: install, then manually rebuild/adjust the offending formula fields to exclude the encrypted field, since there's no vendor-side fix that works universally across different customers' encryption configurations.

    Practical recommendation

Since this is a Labs package (no formal support team, as you may already know from prior threads on this), your fastest path is:

    - Check if it's managed or unmanaged (Setup > Installed Packages, or check the AppExchange listing type)

    - If unmanaged: install, then edit Data_Quality_Score__c to remove the Phone reference and replace it with a non-encrypted proxy (e.g., checking Phone <> null via a different mechanism, or scoring based on other non-encrypted fields only)

    - If managed and the field is locked: you likely can't fix it directly — you'd need to clone the package's dashboard/report logic into your own custom fields that reference a non-encrypted proxy field instead

I've just installed the Home/Child Kanban package from Salesforce Labs, pretty awesome.  As soon as I tried to deploy it for my users though, anyone who is not a System Administrator is unable to see the component.

"Kanban Error

You don't have access to this record. " This error occurs regardless of the type of object that the Kanban is configured to display.

I found that I needed to give at least read access to the fields in the Kanban at a Profile level, and once I did that, the component would show. However there are no Cards in whatever Kanban I put on the page.

Does anyone have any experience or insight as to what other permissions would need to be granted to get this to function as designed?

I was also encountering the same issue, issue has been resolved upon granting the Kanban Configurations Object access to the profile.

Expected feature on carousel-  > Pause the slide when hover over or provide an option to pause the slide. (we are using the Auto play property, but it should pause when we are viewing the current slide)  > Do not move the slide to next if we a video is playing on the video banner. (Autoplay feature does not pause it when video is being played)

That’s not built into the current Salesforce Labs Carousel, since it’s a pretty basic LWC. You’d need to tweak the component code to add a hover listener or check the video’s play state before advancing. Since it’s a Labs app, you can grab the source from the repo and customize it to your needs: https://github.com/SalesforceLabs/LightningCarousel.

When installing the application :  Developer Carbon Dashboard in my organization (following GitHub - SalesforceLabs/Developer-Carbon-Dashboard), the dataset Instance_carbon_Per_CPU_reference does not contain the instance for my organization.so

, its impossible to join this dataset with organisation dataset. As a result, it assigns a value of 0E-13 to "Weighted lbs carbon per CPU", which causes the dashboard to display only zero values.

any idea how this problem can be solved? lot of instance are in the uploaded file

crm analytics : problem in installation of Developer Carbon Dashboard

but i don't found the instance of my organisation !

Yeah, that dataset is static, so if your org’s instance isn’t listed you’ll need to manually add it with the right carbon value. Easiest way is to download the CSV from the dataflow, add a row for your instance, and re-upload/replace the dataset in CRM Analytics. You can find your instance name under Company Information in Setup.
