Discount Tiers applied inconsistently on Amendments

We use Discount Schedules to achieve volume discounts at certain quantities of our product. When we amend a contract with subscriptions that were sold originally with a discount tier applied, we noticed that if you change the quantity on that amended line, the discount tier doesn't continue to apply (unless the added quantity meets the discount tier boundaries on its own). If we add a net new quote line, the discount tier does apply based on the entire quantity, not just the added quantity. Essentially, adding quantity to the amended quote line does not honor the price of the existing subscription, as I believe it should based on the documentation I've seen. We ideally want the amended lines to lock the price and all related discounts so a sales rep just needs to modify the quantity and know that the pricing will match what the customer originally paid. Has anyone else encountered this and have any tips or tricks on how to work around this? (screenshot attached for example illustration) Thanks!

Hi @Kate Bischoff can you help me with this use case -

On Original /First time Sales we have Discount schedule on Product. When Amend we dont want DS to be carried out.

But, when Same product is added as a new line item on Amd QL then DS should be applied.

How can I achieve this? Wht are its effects?
