Hello, everyone.  Question:  One of my MC users has an Email Studio overview pop-up that won't click Close.  Anyone experience the same issues, and have a resolution?

    Hi Ben.

I've also seen this a couple of times before.

I don't think we've ever needed to solve this by contacting Support, but I think we've solved it, by logging in using another browser / resizing browser screen / zooming in or out in the browser screen.

I actually have the exact same issue now, and I'd really like to find a one-step solution that always works and that does not include contacting support.

I'll update here if I find what to do, please do the same :)

Hi all,

having more than 500 users and 170 child business units in my org, I'd like to handle assigning a number of existing users to an existing business unit easily.

In Setup / Users / Import the Bulk User Update instructions tells me to create a .csv file with this user information:

name*, username*, password*, reply email address*, notification email address*, enabled*, role external keys (*Required Field)

Can I assign users to business unit this way by adding a business unit field to the .csv file, or should I go for the Bulk Business Unit update option in Setup / Business Units / Import instead?

Thank you

Hello - question/issue with wait times in Journey Builder. Per JB "If the calculated date is in the past, contacts proceed to the next activity" - but that doesn't seem to be happening.

We have an Event Registration Series (Journey Builder) made up of four parts:

1) Confirmation

2) Reminder #1 (wait - 4 Days before Event)

3) Reminder #2 (wait - 1 Day before the Event)

4) Survey (wait - 1 Day after the Event)

While generally, this works pretty well, I noticed that if someone registers within four days of the event, they are still getting Reminder #1 - which they shouldn't because that time has passed. Instead, it seems Journey Builder is not respecting the "4 days" and is instead playing catch-up and sending the next email in the Journey (i.e. Reminder #1) on the next available send day (even if it's a day before the event).

What I would like to happen is the following (assume event is on 6/18 and I register on 6/16)

1) Confirmation

2) Reminder #1 (don't send - because I registered within the 4 day period - meaning I "missed" this one)

3) Reminder #2 (send as scheduled)

4) Survey (send as scheduled)

Thoughts?

@Jim Harper Try using contact data and add the data extension in data designer. Because Journey data is a snapshot, it will only tell the EventDate based on the contact's journey entry.

Hi, I am trying to run a journey from SF data using the Opportunity object from Sales Cloud but contacts are not injecting. They appear in the Synchronized DE but they don't enter the journey even the evaluation process. What could be the reason for that?

Thanks,

Tsveti

Hello everyone! We have recently deployed Salesforce Sales Cloud and have connected it to our Salesforce Marketing Cloud using a Marketing Cloud Connect.

Now, I've to create a Data Extension in Marketing Cloud wherein I can sync fields direct from Salesforce Sales Cloud. How do I make that happen. Kindly help.

I have one BU in MC used by two distinct types of business.  One type is B2C and they need a unique preference center that will be combined with other B2C brands.   Another type is B2B and they are not combined with B2C or other B2B brands.  So, how can I set up my processes so that B2C related emails go to the B2C preference center and the B2B emails go to the B2B preference center.   Currently, I'm using the Setup/Account Settings section to add the %%profile_center_url%% to every commercial email sent.  I currently have %%profile_center_url%% set for the B2C center.  How can I set up my MC BU instance or processes so that B2C emails can go to B2C preference center and b2B emails can drive to B2B preference center?

I am looking at my custom preference center and email opt outs and attempting to determine some best practices.

We have an ecommerce lead record type in SF (and use the MC connector).  We have 4 brand.com sites and so we have 4 fields on lead for opt in (one for each brand).

Ideally, we want keep track of (and keep in sync) who is subscribed or unsubscribed for each brand.

Each brand is a different BU in marketing cloud.

On our custom preference center, we want to use the custom opt in fields on the lead and want to avoid using the hasoptedoutofemail field.  And, we want to keep SF and MC in sync.

This set up has caused us a considerable amount of problems.  Is this a good, common, or best practice type of set up?  or, is there a better way to achieve our goals?

Here are some challenges we are facing:

- recently we revamped our custom preference centers to attempt to properly manage the hasoptedoutofemail field and our custom fields.  Yet, there must be some problem in that code.  SF seems inconsistent when comparing hasoptedoutofemail to custom opt in fields.  The code is quite complex to attempt to unsub in MC, use custom fields in SF, and reset hasoptedoutofemail in SF after each update.

- I just discovered list unsubscribe via RMM (i.e. yahoo, outlook, gmail, etc) and that sets the hasoptedoutofemail field via the MC connector and knows nothing about our custom opt in fields

- I just discovered Spam Complaint (i.e. yahoo, outlook, gmail, etc) and that also sets the hasoptedoutofemail field via the MC connector and knows nothing about our custom opt in field

The bottom line is that I'd like to take advantage of MC built in capabilities like List Unsubscribe, Spam Complaint, and the automated update of hasoptedoutofemail via the connector.   However, I am hampered by the need to have unique opt in/out by brand (our brands are diverse so it often makes sense that someone is opted in to one brand but out of another.

Is there a better way to manage opt ins and opt outs that is not so complicated as the process we have today?

Or, is this just a common issue that many companies have to deal with it and I just have to deal with it also (i.e. tighten up my custom preference center, build automation opt in/out sync processes to address list unsubscribe by brand, etc)?

Hi, I'm looking for a little advice on what is the typical approach to putting Sales Cloud Leads into a Marketing Cloud Journey. I am extremely unsure of the proper way to do so, and I don't want to do it in a foolishly complicated or inefficient way when I may be missing something much easier!

I can see two apparent approaches:

1) Salesforce Data Event entry

I want to enter Leads that meet certain criteria and haven't been updated in x days, so not sure if this will work since it only fires on create/update. I am also wary of using up governor limits - we already have enough triggers, workflows, processes and flows etc without adding this too.

2) SQL Automation

We have the Lead object synced from Sales Cloud to MC, so I can create a SQL query to select the appropriate Leads from the synced DE and put them in a DE just for this purpose. This query can then run on an automation and be used as the entry source for a journey. This is typically how our existing Contact-based journeys are built, but I'm not sure if it is a good approach (I inherited it).

3) Other ways?

If I am missing something basic it wouldn't surprise me! Any pointers gratefully received :-)

    Hi James,

    I agree with

    @Milton Muthuraj Thangapandi

that SQL Automation is the most reliable way to segment your audience.

SQL queries functionality can give indeed a broader perspective for segmentation. However, you'll need to adjust the query for each marketing campaign or SFMC Journey.

One of the practices is to create a Master SQL query in the automation studio and then copy it as a template for new campaign-related queries. This approach requires SQL knowledge and frequent queries writing.

Another way is to segment the data from your Synchronized DE and SFMC DEs through DESelect - a solution for SFMC segmentation. Literally, it does the same as the SQL query, but has a graphic interface and can be done with zero SQL experience (Drag and Drop).

Last but not least is a way that I find surprising — using SFDC Reports. I do not recommend using it, however, some of the marketers find it as a solution.

The idea behind this is that some SFMC users upload their data to SF Cloud, and then create a new report using SFMC DEs as sources of data. The report (or SF Object) is then transferred back to SFMC and used for segmentation. The advantage of this method is the possibility to join up to 3 data extensions and using picklists to pick data from source DEs. Other than that, the result (the report) will still be limited as you cannot include fields from all source data extensions, and types of objects join are limited to Inner and Outer Joins only.

@James Thomson I hope this helps, and don't hesitate to reach me if you have any questions.

Hi trailblazers,

I'm looking at the Einstein Copy Insights from marketing cloud.

Under language factor Insights, I saw 'has personalization' has two circles of negative impact.

Personalization is encouraged in marketing, while this showed a negative impact. Is it just based purely on the data - happened that the two subject lines with personalization had low open rate? (my understand) so shall I ignore it?

Under Emotional Tone Insights, Joy Tone also has negative -3 impact. Is there any way we could check what are the subject lines with 'Joy' Tone. So we could come up with some actions to improve that.

Looking forward to any advice on interpreting those insights and experience sharing.

Thank you.
