@Aiswariya Devi, please instead, go to the product record you want to add, then click on the pricebook related list, click add standard price, and mention a price when asked, please instead, go to the product record you want to add, then click on the pricebook related list, click add standard price, and mention a price when askedhttps://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.insurance_add_a_price_book_entry_606216.htm&type=5

Hi I have a custom object linked to the Contract object, which is used to associate services that are to be provided under the contract. I want to make life easier for the users who set up the contracts by pre-populating as possible, and one of the fields I want to add on the services record when it is created is to populate the PriceBook field with "Standard Price book", so sell price can be retrieved and calculations performed.

I am unable to do this though.

* work flow wont allow me to set it.

* on an Action button with predefined field values, I can only select PriceBook field from the Contract, but this is also empty.

* Unable to default the Pricebook in the Contract when it is created.

* Unable to choose Price Book in a workflow  to update the Contract when it is created/edited..

* Also with the Action button with predefined field values, I enter the Standard Price Book ID for the Pricebook ID in the new service record, but it ignores it.

If the PriceBook value is set to Standard Price Book on the contract when it is created, then I can read it into service records when the user creates them....but how can I do this?

Any advice is very much appreciated.

David thanks for the reply back to my question last week on setting a default value for PriceBook in my contracts. I am surprised it is so hard to do this. i don't mind doing a complex process builder routine, but I thought I had already had looked into this and was not able to. I'll have another look. cheers
