Hi all,

I'm trying to add a default team to an opportunity but I receive this error message:

"Can't add default team. Ask the record owner to set up a default Opportunity Team, and then try again".

Can anyone help me, please?

    Hi,

On this owner's user record, there shoudl be a related list called "Default Opportunity Team". Have they got anything there? If not, they need to first set their Defautl team, then you can use it on the actual opp records

I'm hoping to find a solution where I can link Opportunity Products to Opportunity Splits using a junction object.

The client has revenue quotas for each of their Sales Reps. Then there are two "Specialty Reps" selling specialty items - they assist the main Sales Rep on a sale. These Specialty Reps never own the opportunity, only Sales Reps own opportunities. The Specialty Rep is specified for each Opportunity using a custom lookup field on the Opportunity (this is populated using automation and works great).

The Specialty Reps each have a quota. I need to "give credit" to the Specialty Rep for the sum of Total Price of their specialty items when they are added to an Opportunity as Opportunity Products. This needs to be related to their quota so that a "quota vs actual" report can be created. It is very important that the dollar amount of their "credit" matches the Total Price of the specialty items on Opportunities.

They also like to group their "quota vs actual" reports by product family to see the distribution of products being sold (though, there is no quota per product family). They are also filtering down the data to 5 specific product families. This requires reporting at the Opportunity Product level. I have been using a "Forecasting Quotas w/wo Forecasting Items w/wo Opportunities w/wo Opportunity Products" custom report type to accomplish this after setting up the Opportunity Revenue forecast type.

I tried setting up Opportunity Teams with Opportunity Splits, then enabled the Split Revenue and Overlay Revenue forecast types and moved all the quotas over respectively. I set up automation to create an Opportunity Team Member and Opportunity Split record for the Specialty Rep in the desired scenarios - when a Specialty Item is added, edited, or removed from the Opportunity. The Split Amount is calculated based on a percentage of the Opportunity Amount, and the percentage field on Opportunity Split only allows for 2 decimal places, so this amount gets rounded off which causes a discrepancy in most scenarios. I swapped this out for a couple custom currency fields on the Opportunity Split object where I can set the amounts using automation and a formula field. Even with all this, we would have to sacrifice the Product Family grouping/filtering, since I'd have to use a "Forecasting Quotas w/wo Forecasting Items w/wo Opportunity Splits" custom report type. Bummer.

I'd really like a way to create a custom report type that links Opportunity Splits to Opportunity Products. I tried creating a lookup field that referenced Opportunity Split via API, but it is not allowed. A new junction object called "Opportunity Product Split" would do the trick. I'd be happy to facilitate the data with automation if the architecture allowed for this. I'd always create an Opportunity Product Split record for the Opportunity Owner when each Opportunity Product record is created, then conditionally create an Opportunity Product Split record for the Specialty Rep as desired.

Any thoughts on something I might be missing here? @Mike Wey

P.S. I've upvoted all the ideas I found related to Opportunity Product Splits and Split Amount calculations

Hi @Art Smorodin,  I ended up using automation to manage split records on each opportunity. I query for the desired amount from the Opportunity Products and store it on a Split record (in a custom currency field) for that user (which is specified in a custom lookup field on the Opportunity). I'm trying to post an image of the flow where all this logic is happening (hopefully in the next comment) - I've shown the configuration screen for elements that facilitate creating a team member and split record to give you an idea of how I implemented this.

This idea is up for prioritization and it looks like it will be part of the Spring '23 release. Spend your coins here to make sure it stays that way! If you can wait a year, you might not have to build anything custom.

Thanks for the reply, Piyush. I am aware of how to customize Standard/Custom tabs; however, Opportunity Splits does not have the settings mentioned in the tab-related article. Hence the question.

    Thanks,

Hi team! I'm looking for a report type that would capture both the total amount from owned opportunities as well as overlay amount from Opportunity Split details. Any suggestions?

   Hi all,

I have a requirement where I need to prevent duplicate split records in Opportunity Split where each record added to the split table should have  qualification (picklist field with some qualifications listed) given only once . Any qualification should not be given twice to different team members and it should be prevented.

I started with trigger as it is the best way to solve this. I am having a tough time here since the each DML operation on Opportunity Splits run in seperate transactions and not able to figure out the duplicates. Did anyone face a similar issue and how we can approach this ?

Hi Everyone,

We have a dataset that needs to be at the Opportunity Split and Opportunity Product level, with two 1-to-many relationships below Opportunity.

The standard report, which a source of truth, automatically calculates the amount (Split % times each Product total).

Example: 3 products on a 50/50 split creates 6 rows. Currently, the Einstein data flow is only returning 3 rows even though we have Oppty Split and Oppty Product in the dataflow.

Does anyone have experience with how to build this type of dataflow?

Thanks

Hi All,

In Dataflow, has anyone had success pulling both/all split users on an opportunity? The issue I'm having is that the Opportunity Split extract is pulling only SplitOwnerId (the first user listed on the Opportunity Split) and not all User Id's associated with the Opportunity Split. The Team Member extract is doing the same and augmenting to the User extract or any other Opportunity related extract is not solving for this.

Any guidance here would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Jeff

Update. I was able to bring in all opportunity split users for each opportunity using the hierarchy, flatten, and multi value options as you noted.

The issue I'm having now is that dollar amount for each user is the total dollar amount on the opportunity and not their portion. I can't calculate their dollar amount since the only option for Split Percentage being brought in for each opportunity is 100%.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I need to know what is the best practice for working with Opportunity Teams and Opportunity Splits in a high volume environment? In looking to enhance & streamline automation from order fulfillment through to compensation & working backwards through the process, let's say we connect SFDC to Xactly so that bookings flow to comp for payroll.

Working backwards from there, the Opportunity Split is key to ensuring accuracy & equity. But creating Opportunity Splits is manual, and Oppty Splits can only be created from users already present on Opportunity Teams, which are also manually set up. Does anyone employ automation in any way for either Oppty Teams or Oppty Splits? Am I missing something?

Thanks,

Raul

Question about enabling OpportunitySplit when creating scratch org:

Hello guys, I'm currently using a script to create scratch org and also deploy metadata into the newly created scratch org. Recently, couple of custom fields were added to OpportunitySplit object, but those metadata can't be deployed to the new scratch orgs because OpportunitySplit isn't enabled by default. I've tried CLI commands / modifying settings attribute in project-scratch-def.json, but to no avail.

My understanding is that the only current option for enabling OpportunitySplit is via GUI. Is this correct? If there's any other way, please let me know.

Thanks in advance,

Lee
